Stephen Chidwick Biography

Chidwick was born on May 10, 1989 in the small coastal town of Deal, located in the English county of Kent. Even in his school years he was drawn to intellectual games. Among the first hobbies were chess and board games. It was these that helped him to develop logic and precise calculation skills.

The Briton first became acquainted with poker when he was a teenager. Playing with friends, Stephen quickly realized that the probability of winning depended largely on strategy and skill. Soon the card game became more than just a hobby for him.

Already at the age of 16 Chidwick decided to try his hand at online platforms, choosing the pseudonym “Stevie444”. His first victory in online tournaments confirmed that poker can bring not only pleasure, but also earnings.

After school Stephen decided to devote himself fully to the game. He started studying theory, analyzing successful strategies, watching famous players. His approach to poker became extremely professional.

Discipline, long hours of practice and analyzing mistakes allowed him to form a unique style of play. At the age of 19 he took part in his first live tournament, which was the beginning of his professional journey and led to impressive results in the world of poker.

Poker Career

In 2008, Stephen got his first taste of victory when he earned $88,760 in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure No-Limit Hold’em tournament. From that moment on, he set his sights on joining the poker elite. A year later, he finished runner-up in the Full Tilt FTOPS event and won $142,155.

His career gained momentum between 2010 and 2014, with Chidwick reaching the finals of major events at the WSOP and EPT, including the prestigious $50,000 Poker Players Championship in 2012, in which he won over $250,000.

2018 has been a truly triumphant year for the Brit. In February, he took first place twice at the US Poker Open, winning a total of more than $750,000. The year ended with 26 final tables in live tournaments. Stephen was second only to Jake Schindler in this indicator.

In 2019, Chidwick again proved himself at the highest level, winning his first WSOP bracelet in the $25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller event for more than $1.6 million in prize money. The year was highlighted by winning the $50,000 EPT Super High Roller for over $800,000. Stephen continued his streak of big wins in 2022, winning over $1.9 million in the Triton Poker Series Madrid Main Event.
