Phil Galfond’s Biography

Phil Galfond was born in 1985 in the small city of Gaithersburg. He started to play Poker when he was studying Philosophy at the University of Wisconsin. He quickly became a good player and left university and studying behind. And that is not a surprise, since he spent a lot of time playing Poker in Las Vegas during one of his summers in college. Since then, his main professional sphere in life has been Poker.

Phil participated in many TV Shows about Poker, such as “Poker After Dark” and “High Stakes Poker”. He was a member of “Ship It, Holla Ballas”. It was a team of young pokerists who were travelling around the world looking for a fun, rich life, and of course Poker tournaments. Since 2015 Phil Galfond has been married to Farah Fath, the American actress. In 2018 his first son, Spencer, was born.

Poker Career

Like every pokerist, Phil Galfond started with low levels when he was in University. He quickly passed through $5 and $10 limits and after that, he began to constantly raise the stakes. Then he passed the $30 limit easily and started to play Poker professionally.

Phil Galfond is well-known for his success in No-Limit Texas Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha. He also has good results in playing on 200$/400$ limits, and even higher. Phil significantly improved his skills and won a couple of huge WSOP tournaments. Since then, he has been considered a pro in Poker.

Currently, Phil Galfond has become a Poker teacher. He opened his own website called “RunItOnce” in 2012, where he provides training videos for pokerists. There are more than 125 Poker players who prepare material for education, and every person can buy it.

All the impressive results of Phil Galfond in Live Poker are connected with WSOP tournaments. He currently has 3 World Series of Poker bracelets for winning in these championships:

• 39th World Series of Poker – WSOP 2008, Las Vegas. It was a $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha with a prize of $817,781;
• 46th World Series of Poker – WSOP 2015, Las Vegas. Phil played $10,000 2-7 Draw Lowball No-Limit. He won $224,383;
• 49th World Series of Poker – WSOP 2018, Las Vegas. It was a $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo. This year Phil Galfond won $567,788;
• 44th World Series of Poker – WSOP 2013, Las Vegas. In this live tournament, Phil took the 2nd place. It was a 6 handed  $25,000 No Limit Hold’em, and he took the $744,841 prize.

Phil Galfond participated in many World Series of Poker championships, where he also has a couple of 4th, 5th, and 6th places. There were some smaller tournaments in his career, such as the PokerGO Tour, NBC National Heads-Up Championship, World Poker Tour, and others.
