Early Years

Kale was introduced to poker thanks to a friend who shared stories of steady income from online gambling. Inspired by this, he started learning the basics of poker right after graduating from high school. His first steps were free games at local pubs with friends, where he studied starting hands and tried to understand basic strategy.

Burns quickly realized that poker could become not just a hobby, but a source of income for him. While working as a bartender, he noticed that his winnings at the poker tables exceeded his salary. He soon quit his job to concentrate fully on the game.

Starting a Career: First Steps and Successes

Initially, Cale Burns focused on cash games and online poker. These steps helped him develop his strategic thinking and bankroll management skills. Since 2009, he began to regularly participate in tournaments, which gave him the opportunity to showcase himself on the professional scene.

Cale Burns’ first tournaments didn’t bring him any big wins, but they laid the foundation for his future achievements. He made his live poker debut at the Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series in Melbourne in 2009, where he finished in 14th place for $2566. Although this was a small amount of money, it was the starting point for his future success.

His first really big achievement came in 2013 when he finished in 5th place in the WSOP Asia-Pacific Main Event, earning $211392. This result established his reputation as a serious player.

Rise to High Roller Status

By the mid-2010s, Cale Burns began to enter more prestigious tournaments with high buy-ins. In 2016, he won the Sydney Championships for $226295 and then went on to win the Western Classic Poker Championship in Perth for another $55674. These wins were a milestone in his career, cementing him as a player capable of competing at the highest levels.

Cale continued to impress, and in 2017 in his longest poker session he finished 3rd in the Triton Macau Main Event, adding an impressive $1300035 to his bankroll. This result was his biggest win at the time and opened the door for him into the high roller circuit.

Outstanding Achievements at WSOP and Other Series

Cale Burns has demonstrated his WSOP abilities in 2019. He finished second in the Six-Handed NLH World Championship, earning $389832. Later that year, he won two WSOP Europe bracelets at once:

• The first is for winning the €25K NLH Platinum High Roller;
• The second was in €2500 No Limit Short Deck Hold’em. His total winnings for these tournaments amounted to $780298.

In November 2019, Burns participated in the Poker Masters where he played in three tournaments and earned a total of $610700, including a significant win of $416500 in the $25K NLH event.

Big Wins in the 2020s

Cale Burns continued to impress in 2020. He won the Aussie Millions 100K Challenge, adding $1197663 to his bankroll, and also finished second in the Super High Roller Bowl Australia, where his winnings totaled $803396. These results made him one of the most notable players in Australia.

His remarkable victory came in 2022 at the Triton Mediterranean Poker Party. In the $75,000 buy-in tournament, he beat 88 entrants to earn $1730000, which was his biggest win to date. This success proved once again his ability to dominate in the most challenging and competitive of conditions.

Live Poker Achievements

Cale is considered the second best poker player from Australia for a reason, here are stats of his biggest accomplishments in live tournaments:

• Winning the 2019 WSOP Europe Platinum High Roller €25500 event, winning $667035;
• Winning the 2019 WSOP Europe Short Deck €2500 buy-in tournament, winning $113263;
• Winning the Aussie Millions A$100,000 Challenge 2020 tournament, winning A$1746360 (~$1198300);
• Winning the $75,000 Triton Super High Roller Series event at Cyprus 2022 for $1730000;
• Winning TLPT Opening Event 2024, a demonstration of skill and experience.

Online Poker Achievements

Online, Burns has reached lesser heights, but he has something to boast about nonetheless:

• In August 2021, Burns finished runner-up in the GGPoker Super MILLION$ tournament, winning $267520;
• In 2020, he was active in online series, including Poker Masters Online, where he had several victories.
