WSOP 2021 Schedule

In 2021 the World Series of Poker (WSOP) will return with full force. The tournament will not be held in the summer but in the autumn and will feature all the familiar events, including the highly anticipated $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em World Championship. In 2019, this event had surpassed the 8,000-entry mark for the second time in history. Played at the Rio Convention Centre, the tournaments have buy-ins ranging from $400 to $250,000.

From Sep 30th until November 22nd a total number of 88 tournaments will be played including more than a dozen championship events in all popular poker variants.

This year, the Main Event will have four starting flights to choose from – Day 1A on Thursday, November 4th, Day 1B on Friday, November 5th, Day 1C on Saturday, November 6th and Day 1D on Sunday, November 7th. The Final Table will be played on Tuesday, 16 November and Wednesday, 17 November.

WSOP Online Qualifiers at GGPoker and WSOP.com

The past years saw Online Events during the WSOP on wsop.com. Usually, those events were held online until the final table which was played live at the Rio Convention Centre. Those events were axed this year, mainly because the WSOP now offers an online series which starts this summer.

Meanwhile, GGPoker launched their full WSOP Online 2021 Schedule for international players with 33 WSOP bracelets to be won from Sunday, August 1 through to Sunday, September 12. So this year online bracelets will only be awarded to non-US players playing on GGPoker. And aside from the bracelet, tournament players can also win a share of the cash prize.

This year’s schedule came as no surprise given that the 2020 WSOP Online Main Event at GGPoker received the Guinness World Record for the largest prize pool ($27.5 million) in a single online poker tournament. And the poker room ahs also come off a $100 MILLION guaranteed WSOP Super Circuit Online Series. During August and September, tens of thousands of players are expected to join the event at the global-facing poker room, including brand ambassador, Daniel Negreanu. Director Ty Stewart also notes it’s worth joining if you are unable to head to the states in the fall because “it’ll be the closest thing to the live WSOP tournament experience outside of Vegas!”

The most noteworthy bracelet events on GGPoker are:

  • The Return No-Limit Hold’em [Final Day] – $1,000,000 guaranteed – $50 buy-in – Sunday, Aug. 1
  • $1,111 COVID-19 Relief Charity Event [2-Day Event] – $1,111 buy-in – Sunday, Aug. 1 – The entire $111 tournament fee will be donated to Caesars Cares, a COVID-19 charity

This Year’s Main WSOP Changes

WSOP Online In July 2021
Separate Online Series in 2021

The main change to the schedule is the reduced allotted time for the Main Event final table. It used to be played out over three days but was shortened to two days this year. The main reason for the 3-day final table was the deal with ESPN which aired the program and was based on three separate rather short programming windows. This year’s WSOP will be aired on CBS, and they have a different format which allows for the main event to be concluded in two days with more play time.
