Adam “simmsux” Geyer, Jim “Mr_BigQueso” Collopy and Angel Guillen highlighted a busy day of WCOOP action yesterday.

Both Geyer and Guillen made the final table of the tough $1k two-day No-Limit Hold’em event while Collopy finished fourth in the equally tough 8-game championship.

Outside of Guillen the Team PokerStars Pros were actually shut out in a couple events yesterday, which means they’ll be looking for some redemption in today’s tournaments.

Here’s a look at some of the best highlights from Day 11 of the 2012 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker.

Angel Guillen

Event 29: $1,050 No-Limit Hold’em Day 2

Talented online pro Adam “simmsux” Geyer finished second in one of the more pro-heavy events of the 2012 WCOOP.

Event 29 drew 1,422 players to create a staggering prize pool of $1.4 million.

Numerous pros bought into the event including Liv Boeree, Daniel Negreanu, Ville Wahlbeck, George Danzer, Max Lykov and Ana Marquez.

After Day 1 only 82 players remained with noted pros Griffin “Flush_Entity” Benger, George Lind, CrabMaki and Team PokerStars Pro Angel Guillen still gunning for first place.

Lind only made it to 61^st place before busting out for $3,697.

Meanwhile CrabMaki, who entered Day 2 as the chip leader, could only parlay his chip stack into a 28^th place finish.

Benger, who has won millions playing online poker, once again got close to the final table but eventually busted in 14^th place.

Geyer entered the final table as one of the middle stacks while Guillen was fighting from the short stack.

Guillen didn’t go out first but couldn’t get past seventh. The Mexican pro earned $41,949 for his efforts.

Players continued to drop until only Geyer and final-table chip leader Illini213 remained with a slight chip advantage for Illini213. The pair quickly settled on a chop that set aside $30k for the winner.

Illini eventually got the best of Geyer and took down $225k while Geyer settled for $194k.

Geyer has an incredible online record that includes multiple FTOPS victories, including the main event in 2009 and he’s also a former Sunday Million winner on PokerStars.

Event 30: $215 No-Limit Hold’em [Ante Up]

Ante Up poker, which replaces increasing blinds with antes, continues to be a popular format at the 2012 WCOOP with 1,091 players buying into Event 30.

Among the players to take a shot were Sandra Naujoks, George Danzer, Christopher “el grillo” de Leon, Daniel Negreanu, Shane “shaniac” Schleger, Johnny Lodden and Jonathan Turner.

Team PokerStars Pro was shut out of the cash for a change, however, leaving Randal “RandALLin” Flowers, James “Andy McLEOD” Obst and KtheKing to fight it out for a spot at the final table.

In the end Joao Paulo “Ponga80” Aquino was the sole established pro to make the final table.

Aquino entered the final table as one of the middle stacks and put on a dazzling performance that saw him eventually start heads-up play with 3.8 million chips to GermanBraine’s 1.5 million.

GermanBraine did not just roll over, however, and after a marathon heads-up match that lasted several hours, it was the German who pulled off the victory.

Jim “Mr_BigQueso” Collopy

Event 32: $320 8-Game Championship

Jim “Mr_BigQueso” Collopy made an appearance at the final table of the prestigious 8-Game Championship yesterday.

Much more complicated than regular Hold’em or PLO, Event 32 still managed to attract 738 entrants to create a prize pool of $221,400.

Among the many mixed-game specialists to take a seat in the contest were Daniel Negreanu, Alex Kravchenko, Andre Akkari, Jude Ainsworth, Marcel Luske, Chad Brown and Marcin Horecki.

Once again the Team PokerStars Pros were shut out of the money, although George Danzer, who is currently third in the 2012 WCOOP Player of the Year rankings, did get close before busting in 118^th place.

Collopy entered the final table second in chips but ran into trouble early.

After losing several key hands Collopy lost the biggest hand of the tournament when a flopped set of sevens failed him against shakentoucan’s rivered straight with eight-five.

The hand helped propel shakentoucan to heads-up where he had a massive advantage over DallasCorben.

After an extended heads-up match, shakentoucan eventually defeated DallasCorben to claim the first place prize of $36,600.
