And so, with Ivan “ILS007” Stokes binking the $10 300 No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em Main Event on October 4th, the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) has officially come to an end for 2023. Since commencing September 10th, a lot of online poker have been played over at PokerStars, and the WCOOP keeps being a highlight of the year for online poker players all over the world.
A total six Main Events was included in the WCOOP schedule: three Texas NLH- and three PLO-events. Let’s break the results down and see who the lucky and skilled winners were!
Stokes Wins Big
Three Main Events, otherwise referred to as World Championship events, were played in Texas No Limit Hold’em with the different Buy-ins of $10 300, $1 050 and $190. The “Crème de la crème”, the $10 300 edition, saw 600 different players throwing their name in the hat competing for eternal glory and the $1 047 257 first place prize. When all was said and done, it was UK’s Ivan “ILS007” Stokes who stood tallest on the podium. He entered the final table as the chip leader and finished off Sweden’s “ShipitFTW911” Heads Up. Certainly not a bad first ever WCOOP title for the UK resident!

In the “medium” edition, it was Brazilian “BLEFE GOD” who took conquered the 4342-player field, which earned him $619 300. It seems to be a trend entering the final table as chip leader and then claiming the trophy, seeing as “BLEFE GOD” did this, just like Stokes.
The “low” $109 edition was won by another Brazilian, “Cademito”. Most surely an impressive feat with 27 194 players in the field. After a Heads Up-deal, he claimed a first prize of $257 039.
Imbajimbaa Won the $10 300 PLO
Just like the Texas NLH Main Events, Pot Limit Omaha also had three World Championships with the three different Buy-ins.
In the $10 300, it was Denmark’s “Imbajimbaa” who banked $233 532 after slaying the starting field of 100 players; another example of the “enter-the-final-table-as-chipleader-and-win-it” trend.

The $1050 edition of the PLO saw “Hulaaaa” being crowned as the winner and taking home the $233 532 dedicated to the winner. On his way to glory, he saw off 648 other players.
In the $109, “Gabriel1244” said “it’s my turn now!” to the other 2 339 players in the field, before coming out on top and taking home the $24 203 first prize.
Overall, WCOOP 2023 has to be considered a success, and surely, players are already now eager to hunt for prestigious titles again next year!
