This fall, the Unibet Open returns to Malta. The Unibet Open Malta took place for the first time in 2011 and it is one of the most popular low buy-in poker tournaments in Southern Europe. The event will take place from September 29 to October 2 at the Intercontinental Hotel in the heart of Malta’s St. Julian’s party scene. Unibet Poker turns 25 this year and the provider’s live tournament series, the Unibet Open is entering its 15th season.
The last event of the Unibet Open in Malta took place in 2019. At that time, 327 entries generated a prize pool of 327,000 euros. In the two following years, the event paused due to the pandemic. But now the Unibet Open returns with a four-day festival at the end of September 2022. There are numerous ways to qualify for the tournament’s Main Event. Satellites for the tournament began on April 18 and will run throughout the summer on Unibet.
Prize packages worth €2,000 include buy-in to the Main Event, four nights’ accommodation at the five-star Intercontinental Hotel and an allowance for travel costs. The final big satellite will take place on Sunday, September 18 – 11 days before the tournament begins. Until the start of the tournament, it is also possible to buy a seat or package online.
About the Intercontinental Malta

The Intercontinental is Malta’s largest 5-star hotel and is located on the same grounds as the casino, so players are just minutes away from the action at the Unibet Open as well as the cash games at Casino Malta.
The Intercontinental is located in the heart of Paceville, Malta’s tourist hub and party hotspot. The hotel offers plenty of luxury with three swimming pools, a fantastic spa, a large fitness center and a private beach. All package winners will also receive a complimentary dinner each night of the event, as well as welcome drinks and complimentary entry to the Players Party.
Nataly Sopacuaperu, Head of Events at the Unibet Open, said, “We are really looking forward to returning to Malta in September. Malta is one of our favorite destinations and our festivals there always have a great atmosphere. September is also the perfect time of year to visit Malta. The weather is gorgeous and it is still warm enough to sit outside and enjoy the sun!”

The last winner of the Unibet Open Malta was Alan Carr from Great Britain. In 2019, he won the Unibet Open Malta Main Event for €53,400.
Incidentally, the first winner of the Unibet Open Malta was Dutchman Mateusz Moolhuizen in 2011. Since the beginning of this year, he has been streaming online poker on our Dutch sister site gamblingcabin.nl.
