PokerListings continues to share results from WSOP 2024 with you. In this article you’ll find information about the winners of the seventh ten events of WSOP, who were crowned from June 24th to June 28th.
Note: We did not include WSOP Online events and results of live WSOP events that were played next — you can find them in later articles on PokerListings.
Dario Sammartino
Italian number #1 on the All Time Money List, Dario Sammartino finally snagged a WSOP bracelet after a 16 years of grinding. He came up on top in a very tough Event #61: $2,500 Mixed Omaha Hi-Lo 8 / Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8, which had 507 registered entries and a $1,128,075 prize pool.

Although his triumph brought him a sweet reward ($222,703), it wasn’t his best cash. Still, money didn’t mean much to Sammartino since he was just happy to play (and win) the event:
“This field was amazing. I played online all year and many mixed games with some of the best players. I learned from the best by playing with the best. Last year, I started to study and improve, and now I’m a bit better.
But I think love is everything in life. It is very important for me. I have the love of my friends and the love of my family; without them, I am nothing. So thank you to my family, to my friends, to my girlfriend, and my son.”

His top five cashes of until the WSOP 2024 did not come from victories — the five biggest are:
Place | Event | Tournament | Prize |
---|---|---|---|
2 | $10K Main Event | WSOP 2019 | $6,000,000 |
3 | $111,111 High Roller for One Drop | WSOP 2017 | $1,608,295 |
4 | €100K Super High Roller | WSOP 2015 | $782,465 |
3 | $25K High Roller 8-Handed | PCA 2016 | $542,160 |
3 | $75K High Roller Bounty | WSOP 2022 | $498,696 |

Hector Berry
Scottish player Hector Berry hadn’t had a long poker career or any notable live cashes until WSOP 2024. There everything changed, when Berry conquered Event #62: $600 PokerNews Deepstack Championship No-Limit Hold’em, which saw 5,110 entries and generated a prize pool of $2,6060,100.
Along with his bracelet, Berry also took home $282,876.

Berry, who previously had only 11 ITMs in live tournaments and a best live cash of $30,899 from 2021, didn’t expect to win something big at WSOP. So, as you’d expect, in the end he was absolutely smashed by the victory and somewhat lost control of his emotions:
“[…] At the end I was a little emotional seeing all the messages coming in. Heads-up I was just so engrossed in the moment, it’s so draining. Playing final three tables with all the Argentines going mental, Daniel [Negreanu] winning a bracelet, and I was just sitting here trying to work out how to defend my big blind!
I’ve only been taking it seriously for a few years. I came here for three weeks last year and played about twenty tournaments. Played about five this year and won one — which is kind of insane! Very lucky, very fortunate.”

David Funkhouser
Two years ago, experienced US poker player David Funkhouser almost grabbed his first WSOP bracelet. Unfortunately, he ended up finishing second in the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better event after a heads-up with Daniel Zack.
Defeated but still hopeful, David tried to reach his goal time and time again. At the WSOP 2024, he finally did it by winning Event #63: $1,500 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw (7-Handed), which had 453 entries and a $604,755 prize pool.

This victory brought him his third best live cash of $123,314. The two others being:
Place | Event | Tournament | Prize |
---|---|---|---|
2 | $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better | WSOP 2022 | $200,356 |
1 | $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. | PGT Mixed Games II 2023 | $187,200 |
David didn’t celebrate the money much as he did his first bracelet:
“It means a lot. [I’ve come] close this year and close for many years. Played dozens, if not hundreds of these [bracelet events]. They’re hard to win. We had a tough final table and Michel is a fantastically tough opponent. They all gave me tough spots the whole way. It’s great to win and it ain’t easy.”

Christopher Moen
As a charter bus driver, US recreational player Christopher Moen is usually the one who delivers people to their desired goal or destination. However, at the WSOP 2024, Moen reached the last stop by himself, winning Event #64: $600 No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack, which had 5,263 registered entries and a $2,684,130 prize pool.

Christopher hasn’t had much ITMs — 17 in total, including this last victory. His total live earning amount to $420,931, where $289,323 of that is credited to his latest victory and first ever bracelet. His reaction to these results was fascinating:
“That was impressive, wasn’t it? I mean, I really hit that string of cards, and then I really took off. And, of course, I had to get lucky. I wouldn’t even be here if I hadn’t spiked one with pocket tens against queens earlier in the day. It’s just how it is.”

Mark Checkwicz
Events for seasoned players are always a delight to watch, mostly because of their unique atmosphere and respect for each and every participant.
In 2024, one prestigious WSOP event, Event #65: $5,000 Seniors High Roller No-Limit Hold’em collected 680 entries and a $3,128,000 prize pool. The winner was all-around family man Mark Checkwicz from the US.

Unlike many 2024 winners, Mark was enormously happy to go away with a huge prize ($573,876) and gladly shared why:
“Listen, I’m gonna tell you exactly what it means. I promised my wife, she’s a school teacher, she’s been a school teacher for twenty-four and a half years, she’s got nine more years to work. I promised her if I won this tournament, I would buy her a year more of retirement. She now has eight years more to work! It’s awesome.
I’m telling you, I have a beautiful family. I truly do to the core. These people love me and I love them back and I can’t find a reason to be unhappy when I’m playing the game. It’s just so perfect. Poker is just so beautiful and really there has to be a winner and a loser and I appreciate both sides of the equation. That’s what makes it work.”

Elie Nakache
Frenchman Elie Nakache is one of the rarest cases in the poker industry.
For the longest time, Nakache was a Spin&Go regular who only occasionally played online and live MTT. Then, two years ago he became fond of Pot-Limit Omaha and kept to it straight to his recent victory in the WSOP Event #66: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship. The event had 811 registered entries and generated a prize pool of $7,542,300.
After the event , Elie stated his love to PLO:
“I’m a spin player, but during the last two years, I fell in love with PLO. I like to play a lot of hands, and tournaments are perfect for that. I had the feeling that I could do something in this tournament. And it was amazing. I’m very lucky, and I won a bracelet.”
By the way, Nakache’s previous ITMs amounted to a total of $340K from 2019 to 2024. WSOP 2024 just quadrupled this amount with a $1,320,945 prize.

Ben Collins
Englishman Ben Collins was a long time poker fan and even professional player from 2009 to 2012. However, he never won a huge poker event until the WSOP 2024.
This year, Collins unexpectedly became a winner of Event #67: $500 SALUTE to Warriors – No-Limit Hold’em, which saw a total of 4,517 entries and a $1,851,970 prize pool. In the end, Collins took home a $207,486 prize.

He was completely shocked by this triumph. Lost for words, he was focused on calling calling his wife and daughter to inform them about the win. He only stated:
“It’s just surreal still… like, all along the way you think about holding the bracelet, you get the support from everyone which then keeps you going as you get further… to actually do it, is just ridiculous.”

Colin Robinson
We wouldn’t be exaggerating if we said relief was the word of WSOP 2024. It was uttered more than once by the winners, including US poker player Colin Robinson who took down Event #68: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em, which had 2,229 entries and a prize pool worth $4,959,525.

With this event, Robinson secured his first bracelet and second best cash ($667,963). Unfortunately, he was both too tired and too nervous to feel anything except relief:
“The biggest feeling is definitely relief. I came into the day fifth in chips and started out very poorly… Crap if I get out of the final two tables without making the final table it’ll be a little tragic. I’m gonna play my best and whatever happens happens. Today, I guess, was my day.“

Nikolay Fal
Being the best at something you truly love is one of the greatest feeling you can experience. Russian Nikolay Fal got this right at the WSOP 2024 by winning Event #69: $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better, which had 611 registered entries and a $815,685 prize pool.
With his first bracelet, Fal also got his third best cash ($153,730). He only briefly expressed his feeling, stating: “I’m very happy to win a bracelet in stud hi-lo, stud is my favorite game”. He was then quick to join his friends for a celebration.

Martin Alcaide
The poker community often sees some strange places of birth/countries of residence combinations. With that said, the combination of Spain and Bulgaria does not come up often. That’s why Spanish professional Martin Alcaide, who resides in Bulgaria, made a special impression on WSOP 2024 when he won Event #70: $400 COLOSSUS No-Limit Hold’em, which had 19,303 entries and a $6,369,990 prize pool.

Martin took his first WSOP bracelet and best live cash ($501,240) with support from his close friend and acknowledged Spanish professional Sergio Aido on the rail. This friendship were later explained by Alcaide:
“We started playing at the lowest of the low stakes, and obviously, he kept playing and became one of the best in the world, but I took a break from playing for almost ten years. I had some problems with Spanish online poker laws and regulations, and then I actually turned to making content. I played competitively for E-Sports and was a manager for G3 playing Clash Royale.
I feel so relieved mostly. I was mostly just scared of losing, which is not a good mindset, so I was just trying to concentrate on the hands, so I relieved more to be rid of the tension than the happiness right now, but I’m sure that will change.”
