Ontario’s version of The Festival Online is now complete, and a guarantee breaking Main Event helped put the series above the pre-series promises.
With Ontario, Canada’s gaming market segregated in March of 2022, the ~15 million people in Canada’s largest province have been playing in their own market. That means that while the rest of the world was playing The Festival Online on the global client, Ontario residents were left out in the cold.
888poker Ontario stepped up to the challenge however, and threw an Ontario specific version of The Festival Online (TFO-O). There were a bit more than $100k in guarantees going into the 12-event series with buy-ins ranging from $11 to $109.
When the dust settled on TFO-O, it looks like the series was nearly $20k in the green with a bit more than $120,000 in total moneys collected. In part, that was helped along by a guarantee-breaking Main Event that saw nearly 600 total entries including rebuys.
In total, the series saw 1,769 total entries made up from 1,400 entries plus 369 rebuys. That meant the operator collected just over $11,000 in fees from the 12 games.
Big Main Event Closes The Festival
Not all the games during TFO-O managed to hit their guarantees. In fact, it was a 50/50 game with 6 games meeting or breaking their guarantee and the other six falling short. The biggest winner of the whole series was the Main Event which saw the biggest field of the week with 594 total entries.
In the end, it was “jusgivithere” who was the big winner from the Main Event, which played as a Mystery Bounty game. They took first place and the most money from the game with $7,113 in total prizes, but it was “AWilliams47” who bagged the biggest bounty in the game for $4,000 plus $137.40 for 30th place. Third-place finisher “graciekibo” had the second best bounty score with a total of $2,895.66 in total bounties for a final score of $5,220.30
Among the other games that saw big numbers was the Mini Texas PKO 6-MAX on Apr 6. That game more than doubled its $1k guarantee with 101 entries and a final prize pool of $2,020. “Mechadon76” was the big winner from the event with a combined score of $517.49 including a bounty total of $264.99.
That brings the first running of TFO-O to a close with a decent success. While half the games failed to make their guarantee, the ones that beat guarantee were good enough to make it a net positive for the operator, even without considering the more than $11k in fees collected through the series.
While the TFO-O is now finished for this year, there is still lots of regular action on 888poker Ontario. Among the big games to watch out for every week is the $30k guaranteed Sunday Mystery Bounty Main Event for $109. That game runs Sundays at 18:30 and features a big bounty of $3,000.
For players looking for daily action, there are $10k guarantees every day with the 8-Max Mystery Bounty 109 as well as a daily $5k guaranteed high roller for $525. Check out the 888poker Ontario lobby for full details on the regular action daily.
