The Battle for 2025 PokerGO Cup Glory Is in Full Swing

There are over a dozen live poker tournaments across Las Vegas almost at any given moment. In this article, we’re choosing to focus on one in particular — the 2025 PokerGO Cup, which has brought high-stakes crushers to Sin City. Michael “Texas Mike” Moncek, Joey Weissman, and Eric Blair have all stamped their mark on the series this year, each delivering headline-worthy performances in their own way.

With multiple champions already crowned and the Main Event action ahead, here’s a breakdown of the latest at the PokerGO Studio.

Texas Mike Moncek Takes Down Event #1 Despite a Setback

Michael Moncek, better known as “Texas Mike” — despite hailing from Illinois — was the first to test out the waters in 2025 PokerGO Cup Event #1: $5,100 No-Limit Hold’em. The University of Texas alum all but bulldozed through 177 entries to claim the first title of the 2025 PokerGO Cup, banking $185,850.

Moncek entered the livestreamed final table as the chip leader and wasted no time. Eric Baldwin was the first to fall, running his top two pair into Moncek’s rivered flush. The eliminations continued as Danny Qutami and Stephen Song hit the rail in sixth and fifth place, respectively.

Momentum momentarily swung against Moncek when he lost a monster pot to Cherish Andrews. Holding A 9 , Moncek raised to 500,000 preflop, and Andrews defended with J J . The J 8 7 flop locked things up for Andrews, but Moncek kept the pressure on with a 525,000 bet, which Andrews called. The 7 turn cemented her lead, and she opted to just call a 1,200,000-chip bet. Disaster struck for Moncek when the 10 river gave him a straight, prompting him to shove. Andrews snap-called, taking the chip lead for the first time.

Moncek rebounded after Weissman, clinging to a short stack, doubled through Andrews. He regained momentum, eventually sending Andrews to the rail in third place with an ace-high flop against her medium pair.

Heads-up play was brief. Weissman found Q Q and looked poised for a double, but Moncek’s A 10 spiked an ace to end the tournament. With the win, Moncek pushed his live earnings past $4 million, while Weissman settled for a $123,900 payday.

Then, Joey Weissman Gets His Revenge in Event #2

After his runner-up finish in Event #1, Joey Weissman wasted no time turning things around. In Event #2: $10,100 No-Limit Hold’em, he outlasted 118 entrants and took home $295,000 — defeating none other than Texas Mike Moncek heads-up.

Weissman and Moncek both returned to the final table after a long, swingy Day 1 that saw chip leads exchange hands in rapid succession. Anthony Hu was the first to go, losing to Andrew Lichtenberger’s pocket pair. The remaining six players then got caught up in a chaotic sequence of double-ups before Lichtenberger eventually fell in sixth place.

As play continued, Moncek eliminated Andrew Moreno to claim the chip lead, but Weissman clawed his way back after a huge pot against Erik Seidel. Weissman, holding A A , called a three-bet from Seidel A K . Seidel was soon after eliminated by Moncek, setting up a heads-up rematch.

Moncek initially had the lead, but Weissman quickly turned the tables by calling Moncek’s all-in shove, giving Weissman control. Moncek briefly regained the lead but soon surrendered another double that put Weissman back in the driver’s seat. The final hand saw Moncek shove with K 2 , running into Weissman’s K J . The board ran out 6 J 7 9 J , sealing Weissman’s revenge victory in the 2025 PokerGO Cup.

Eric Blair Shakes Up the PokerGO Cup Standings with Second Series Win

Eric Blair is making his case as the most dangerous player of the PokerGO Cup, securing his second win in three events by taking down Event #6. His latest victory — worth $352,350 if you were wondering — propelled him near the top of the overall series leaderboard, trailing only Weissman.

Blair started the final table as one of the short stacks but wasted no time climbing up the chip counts. Nick Schulman was the first to exit after running Big Slick into pocket fours, while Christian Roberts’ early lead vanished as he was eliminated in fourth place.

Heads-up play against Keith Lehr was brief. Lehr shoved with A K on a 5 7 3 board, and Blair snapped him off with Q 3 . The turn and river bricked, securing Blair’s second victory of the 2025 PokerGO Cup series.

The 2025 PokerGO Cup Race Isn’t Over Just Yet

As far as the PokerGO Cup Series Leaderboard is concerned, nothing is over until it’s over. With multiple winners now in the mix, that first place ranking is still wide open. Currently, Joey Weissman holds the edge thanks to his first and second-place finishes, but Moncek, Blair, and several other contenders are still within striking distance.
