Take on the 2022 WSOP Champion at the Luxon MPP Coin Rivet Invitational!

Golf fans dream of playing a round with Tiger Woods, Sunday League football hobbyists would give anything to have a kickabout with Cristiano Ronaldo and the folks at the tennis club dream of firing their best serve at Roger Federer… but these are, indeed, dreams.

Poker fans, on the other hand, sometimes do get the chance to battle it out – and literally rub shoulders with – the game’s stars at the tables, and this is exactly the case at the Luxon Pay Mediterranean Poker Party, which is currently underway at the shiny new Merit Royal Diamond Hotel in North Cyprus, and continues until 19th September.

Espen Plays Host

Espen Jorstad. Winner of WSOP 2022 Main Event

The big name in question in this case is Espen Jorstad, who this summer catapulted himself from poker player to poker megastar when he became the 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion, trousering a cool $10,000,000 in the process. Espen will be playing host in the popular holiday destination from 8pm local time on 27th August, with special guest appearances at cash game tables with limits expected to include 5/10, 25/25, 50/100 and 100/200, thus giving poker enthusiasts the opportunity to pit their wits against the new kid on the block across numerous stakes.

Megabucks Poker

The highlight of the Luxon Pay Mediterranean Poker Party festivities is the $200K buy-in (yes – you read that correctly) single re-entry Coin Rivet Invitational, interest in which having reached such a fever pitch level that the cap has been increased from 64 to 80 players. Based on the record-breaking Triton Million in London in 2019, the catchy format mixes professionals with recreational players, both buying in for a hefty $200,000. Day 1 sees the two groups separated, and they come together to do battle on Day 2. Click here for the pairings.

But there’s more to this poker shindig than nosebleed money and cash games with the WSOP top dog. For example, the MPP Warm Up, August 25th-29th, is a $2,200 buy-in $2Million GTD tournament, and this is followed by the $5,300 buy-in $5Million GTD MPP Main Event, August 29th to September 3rd.

Meanwhile, throw in the likes of the One Drop and PokerNews Cup, events by the Malta Poker Festival (MPF), Irish Open Mediterranean, Ladies First and The Festival, plus the super highroller Triton Series Cyprus, and it’s a veritable who’s who of the poker world.

The action from all of the final tables can be enjoyed via the live stream hosted by the Luxon Pay YouTube channel, with commentary from Henry Kilbane and James Dempsey, so don’t forget to tune in!
