This Sunday (December 5th) the final event of the Big 20 Series will begin on PokerStars. In this tournament, a fabulous 5,000,000 dollars in prize money is guaranteed with a buy-in of just 55 dollars. In addition, Stars distributes enormous bounties (20,000 dollars) for eliminating any member from the team pro.

Those who rarely play big online tournaments should make an exception for this event. The structure is good, thanks to the bounties, excitement is already guaranteed in the first levels and Stars goes out on a limb with a very high guarantee for a comparatively small buy-in.

Watch out for the bounties!

There is a $20,000 bounty on each Team Pro player at PokerStars. If you eliminate one of these players, the money will be credited to your account regardless of how you finish in the tournament.

For players, this means that in virtually every game situation (except maybe at the the final table), eliminating a Team Pro member should take precedence over everything else. In a nutshell, the tactics can be summarised as follows: No matter how bad your hand is, as long as you have even the slightest chance of winning, you should seek the all-in against a player from the team pro if you can eliminate him (i.e. if you have them covered). This is true even if, for example, it means going all-in with 7-2 against A-A. The enormous bounty in case of a scoop more than makes up for the bad odds you’re getting.
