EPT Prague is one of the most iconic stops on the European Poker Tour and players still have a shot at cheap seats to the Main Event.
‘Tis the season for poker in Prague. The European Poker Tour (EPT) from PokerStars is making its regular annual stop in the Czech Republic this week with EPT Prague. The stop in one of Europe’s most scenic capitals is one of the most anticipated series on the EPT schedule.
When the calendar changes to December and the days start getting short, the thoughts of poker players turn to Prague. The iconic year-end game is back for its 15th running this December at King’s Casino Prague.
Key Festival Dates: December 7-18, 2022
- Eureka Main Event: December 8-12 – €1,100
- Eureka High Roller: December 11-12 – €2,200
- EPT Main Event: December 12-18 – €5,300
- EPT Super High Roller: December 11-13 – €50,000
- EPT High Roller: December 16-18 – €10,300
EPT Prague has one of the most storied histories on the EPT. The first running of the game was way back in 2007, and up until 2019, Prague was a regular December stop on the European tour. Of course, 2020 and 2021 were unusual years to say the least, and global events prevented Prague and many other series from running.
But the game was back in 2022 with a vengeance, running twice in the same calendar year for the first time ever. Once the world started opening up again in early 2022, PokerStars planned an early return to Prague, returning in March of 2022.

Twelve Days of Christmas Poker
While the previous running of this series was off-season, EPT Prague is traditionally part of the Christmas season in the minds of most poker players. The iconic game typically runs in December as the poker world’s version of the Twelve Days of Christmas.
While the hallways and the conference rooms of Hilton Prague transform into a poker wonderland, the streets of Prague transform into a winter wonderland filled with Christmas themed shops and stalls as Christmas markets spring up throughout the city.
Combine the seasonal charm of Prague this time of year with some of the finest medieval architecture in Europe, historic sights and landmarks around every corner, and a vibrant club scene, and Prague is clearly a great destination both on and off the felt.
Cheap Seats to Main Event
There are still chances for players to get into the Main Event for cheap, or even for free. A few talented players will be able to roll it up from the freebuy games, which offer tickets to the €22+R satellite level but there are lots of entry points to align with the needs of all players and bankrolls.
For players looking for a 90% Christmas sale on Main Event seats, the direct satellite game is the way to go. The €530 EPT Prague Qualifier guarantees one Main Event package and there is one chance left on December 11. For players who want to start a bit lower than €530, there are satellite levels from free through €55 that play towards the €530 game. The sub-satellite tournament games are as follows:

Get a Stack of Cash Under the Christmas Tree
With twelve days of poker for Christmas, there will be plenty of chances for players to get a nice, fat stack of cash as a Christmas present this year. There are 54 total events over the twelve days of poker action including the Eureka Main Event (€1,100), the Eureka Cup (€440), and several high rollers and mixed games sprinkled throughout the schedule.
Of course, the highlight of series will be the Main Event. More than 12.5k entries have bought into the EPT Prague Main Event since the first running back in 2007 with a near-record attendance and prize pool in the most recent edition. Only one previous year – 2016 – did better, but March 2022 was just a hair behind.
In 2016, 1,192 entries made a prize pool of €5,781,200 and Jasper Meijer van Putten from the Netherlands pocketed a top prize of €699,300. Earlier this year, Poland’s Grzegorz Glowny bagged €692,252 by beating 1,190 entries for his best share of the €5,771,500 prize pool. March’s running of the series was the first time the series ran outside of the Christmas season, and the sixth time the Main Event collected at least €5 million in prizes.
Plan your shot at an extra Christmas present under the tree this tree. Jump into the satellites to win a cheap shot at the Main, and head to PokerStars to check out the full schedule.
