Pokerstars to Concurrently Host Pennsyyl-Mania, Michigan Classic, and New Jersey Classic

This October 24th Pokerstars will host three events at the same time across three states.  Pennsyl-MANIA (PokerStars PA), and the Michigan Classic (Pokerstars MI), and the New Jersey Classic (PokerStars NJ).

Americans spend an estimated $6 billion annually on Halloween. A holiday celebrated on the 31st of October that’s thought to have originally started as a holiday with both pagan and religious roots, has now evolved into a day of fun and spooky activities like carving out jack-o-lanterns, children and adults dressing up in scary costumes to attend parties or venturing out to local houses to play trick-or-treat, bravely visiting haunted houses or graveyards, but mostly eating a whole lotta of Halloween candy.

However it seems there are more treats instore for PokerStars players in PennsylvaniaMichigan, and New Jersey as they gear up for some early pre-Halloween celebrations with the Pennsyl-MANIA, the Michigan Classic, and the New Jersey Classic happening on October 24th.

$700,000 in Combined Guaranteed Prize Pools

Each two-day event will start simultaneously at 17.00pm ET on October 24th, and will have a $300 buy-in. The tournaments will be structured similarly to the COOP Main Event series. Day 1 will will have 5 hours of registration period, allowing players to re-enter a total of fives time. The starting stack will be 100,000 chips, with the blinds set at 15 minutes. Those who make it through to Day 2 will play on Monday October 25th at 18.00pm.

The guarantee for each will differ for each event with $350,000 GTD for Pennsylvania, $250,000 GTD for Michigan, and $100,000 GTD for New Jersey. That’s some real money prizes right there, and the fifth year Pokerstars has hosted the Pennsyl-MANIA, with the largest guarantee in the market. The inaugural Pennsyl-MANIA which took place in May 2020 currently stands as the largest in terms of player participation and the amount of money awarded out to the players (nearly 2,800 entries and a prize pool topping $515,000).

All three states will compete within each state. Satellites have been running since October 12th for all three tournaments, from as low as $15.

Players can also try their luck at the Pokerstars sites by joining a special $3 Spin & Go (when they deposit $30). The Spin & Go winners will gain entry to a Freeroll which will be held on October 24th and award $15,000 in tickets.

Spin & Gos  first went live on PokerStars in 2014 after which a number of other operators soon followed suit. Player liked the idea and quickly adapted to new faster paced version of Sit & Gos. It is however the strategy is totally different and some say throwing all habits and knowledge of playing a Sit & Go out of the window and set about creating new tactics, and a different approach to handling your opponents.

COOPs Guarantees Beaten!

Pokerstars recently wrapped up their PokerStars Championships of Online Poker (COOPs) in September across all three COOPs (PACOOP, MICOOP, and NJCOOP). All three events were predicted to generate guarantees of $4.5 million collectively. However, all three COOPs beat their guarantees bringing the total to three-quarters of a million dollars more at $5.27 million.

More than half came from PACOOP Pennsylvania, with the 69-event series attracting more than 25,000 entries, and awarded $2.38m to their players and Hondoribbia winning the main event for $36,401 and the championship trophy.

The MICOOP in Michigan attracted over 18,000 entries across 68 events, generating $1.78 million with WadeDavenport winning the main event for $31,000 and the MICOOP championship trophy.

NJCOOP in New Jersey awarded $1.1 million in prizes with just under 10,600 entries across 60 events. Sri100k won the main event for $18,600 and a NJCOOP trophy.

How to Play at Pokerstars from the US

Many players search the internet in hot pursuit of the best real money poker sites. For the US market things are a little more limited since April 15th 2011. This was due to Black Friday when the US authorities locked down the US market and enforced the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIGEA). However, operators like Pokerstars have worked along side certain states of which have since created their own Gambling rules, thus allowing players residing in those states to download and play on their relevant sites.
