PokerStars Championship Panama Adds Guarantees, Slims Schedule

The PokerStars Championship in Panama will have less events than originally planned but guaranteed prize pools for several tournaments.

The team cut 10 tournaments from the schedule but longer registration periods, deeper stacks, guaranteed prize pools and a new $10,300 Second Chance High Roller.

PokerStars Championship Panama is set to run March 10-20, 2017, at the Casino Sortis Hotel, Spa & Casino.

Lessons from Bahamas Championship

The recent PokerStars Championship Bahamas was the inaugural event of the new Championship brand and Neil Johnson, head of Live Poker Operations, says the PokerStars team is committed to improving the player experience.

“PokerStars is always reviewing player feedback to see how we can improve the experience for players at our live events, and some of the feedback over the last few events has involved field sizes and lower buy-in events,” Johnson said.

“With that in mind, we’ve taken a long look at the upcoming PokerStars Championship in Panama to see what changes we may want to make.”

o $1,000 National Championship – $400,000 Guaranteed
o $400 PokerStars Cup – $150,000 Guaranteed
o $200 PokerStars Open – $50,000 Guaranteed
o $120 Deepstack – $20,000 Guaranteed
o 2 X $120 Super Sat to $1,000 National Championship – 10 seats Guaranteed ($22,000)
o 2 X Freebuy Sats with $20 rebuys to PokerStars Cup – 10 seats Guaranteed ($8,800)
