Another June is in the books; and based on everything that went down in poker just last week, it was a memorable one.
Poker pros continued to grind their way through at WSOP 2024, while others joined online tournaments and tried out some of our poker strategies – but, of course, you’re going to need a bit more detail than that.
So, join us in this weeks poker recap, as we wrap up the last week of June and go full summer!

Chasing Dreams and High Stakes: The Journey of Alec Torelli
This week started a little different at PokerListings. Instead of telling you about live poker or online tournaments, our very own Melvin Schroen completed his interview with the founder of ConsciousPoker.com and WSOP regular, Alec Torelli.
The two touched upon just about everything poker. From Alec’s inexperienced beginnings, his preference for cash games, to, of course, his most memorable poker moments. Reading it, you’ll hear a bit about his philosophy, sure, but you’ll also come to understand Alec’s love for the game and how it played into him creating ConsciousPoker.com.
You’ll find the second part of this interview series within the link below. Just make sure you read the first part beforehand.
The Hot Hands of the Scandinavian Open Poker Championship
Getting back into the PokerListings groove, this week we also went back to Banco Casino. There, the Scandinavian Open Poker Championship had just wrapped up and it was time to report on the details.

As you may know, the title ultimately went to Czech Ondrej Nečas, whose poker triumph saw him taking home €39,210 from Banco Casino. To secure his win, Nečas managed to outplay a total of 1,074 entries, going against Greek player Nanos Ioannis in the final heads up battle.
Of course, for the details of how it all went down, you’ll need to check out the article below!

WSOP 1978 – Bobby Baldwin Becomes the Youngest Champion
Of course, we couldn’t go long without talking about the WSOP. However, instead of discussing the WSOP 2024 results, in this article we opted for something a little farther back – WSOP 1978.
With the eighties just around the corner, everything was heating up, including poker; and while Doyle Brunson was coming off two consecutive wins, the poker legend was in for a surprise in 1978, one by the name of Bobby Baldwin.
You see, 1987 was the year that the WSOP crowned its youngest champion, an ambitious and curly haired Bobby Baldwin.
On May 7th, 1987, the festivities kicked off with a total of 11 tournaments and one novelty – the prize distribution in the Main Event. The details of how it all went down can be found below!

Bencb Blew Up Twitter: Misogyny, Ignorance or Misunderstanding?
The poker world has seen its fair share of controversial topics over the years; and last week yet another one popped up on our poker radar.
During the last stretch of June, the poker community on X (ex-Twitter) became highly involved in the old (but not gold) topic of “men in poker having biological advantages over women”. The topic was, albeit somewhat indirectly, brought about by Benjamin “bencb789” Rolle.

Believe it or not, the whole thing started with an Instagram Q&A story from Ben Rolle, which poker player Blaise Bourgeois reposted as a screenshot and responded to. While we won’t get into the details here, Rolle’s (Q&)A on Instagram sparked a debate on the biological advantages of men (as compared to women) in poker.
Both men and women in poker gave their two cents, with our author Vasilisa Zyryanova following closely afoot. In her article, you’ll find out what the poker world had to say – was this misogyny, ignorance or just a misunderstanding?

GGPoker microFestival off to a Massive Start
Onto more lighter subjects, last week also saw the kick start of the GGPoker microFestival; and contrary to its name, the festival was off to a massive start.
For those just coming to the poker party, the microFestival is an online poker series held for the second time ever in GGPoker history. It comes with a whopping $10 million in guaranteed prizes. As the name implies, this is a micro stakes festival and definitely the biggest one out there right now.
The Winners of the Fourth 10 Events of WSOP 2024
We can’t not report on the biggest live poker event of the year, can we?

That’s why you’ll find a list of the fourth 10 event winners in the article below. Apart from their names and winning smiles, you’ll also find their post-win comments. It’s safe to say that this week, it was all about love, family, and a bit of drama on the side.
