Petrangelo & Negreanu Lead Final 5 in the Super High Roller Bowl VII

Petrangelo & Negreanu Lead Final 5 in the Super High Roller Bowl VII

The Super High Roller Bowl VII has lived up to its billing at the PokerGO Studio from the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The $300,000 buy-in nosebleed no-limit hold’em event attracted 24 of the top names in poker to generate a huge $7,200,000 prize pool. After two days of play, the action was whittled down to just five players with Nick Petrangelo with 2,630,000 in chips in the lead and GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu not too far behind.

Meanwhile, Andrew Lichtenberger (880,000), Orpen Kisacikoglu (855,000), and Justin Bonomo (610,000) are all still alive for the title and the whopping $3,312,000 top prize but have their work cut out for them. However, any of the trio can also win the title when the action resumes on Friday with even Bonomo’s short stack equating to a more-than-healthy 41 big blinds.

As we already recapped, the opening day two days ago witnessed some fireworks with Negreanu rivering quads to send Bryn Kenney to the rail with aces-full.

While yesterday’s penultimate day didn’t showcase any super coolers like this one, it did provide tons of excitement with Petrangelo and Negreanu eliminating opponents throughout the day.

Negreanu began the day with the chip lead and was the chip leader for most of the day. That changed near the end of the night according to the PokerGO Tour blog after Petrangelo won a pot against Eric Worre before eliminating him in another hand when his jacks were good against king-jack suited.

If Petrangelo is able to parlay his chip stack into a victory, it will be his single largest cash in his illustrious poker career according to The Hendon Mob where he is tracked with nearly $25 million in live tournament cashes. His biggest haul thus far to date came with a World Series of Poker bracelet when he shipped the 2018 WSOP Event #5: $100,000 No Limit Hold’em – High Roller for $2,910,227.

Negreanu already has a larger cash than the winner’s prize thanks to finishing runner-up to Dan Colman in the 2014 WSOP Event #58: $1,000,000 No Limit Hold’em – The Big One for One Drop for $8,288,001 but this would be his biggest that also came along with a title. ‘Kid Poker’ already has found success in the past during the Super High Roller Bowl as he was rewarded $3,000,000 back in 2018 for finishing runner-up in the $300,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl IV to the still contending and three-time Super High Roller Bowl champion Bonomo.

Worre obviously wasn’t the only casualty of the 14 players to return. Also hitting the rail on Day 2 were Paul Jager, Alex Foxen, Mikita Badziakouski, Seth Davies, Ben Tollerene, Chris Brewer, Jason Koon, and Cary Katz.
