Pamela Belote Becomes the Most Decorated Woman in WSOP Circuit History

Women in poker made some incredible strides in 2024. Kristen Foxen added a fifth WSOP bracelet to her collection, Maria Ho continued to excel in high-stakes games, and now, Pamela Belote has set a record that will be hard to beat. By capturing her eighth World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) ring, Belote has claimed the top spot as the most decorated female player in WSOPC history.

Her latest victory came in the Ladies Event at WSOPC Choctaw Durant. Previously tied with La Sengphet at seven rings each, Belote’s win pushed her to the top of the leaderboard and into poker’s record books.

Breaking the Record

Pamela Belote’s eighth ring comes six years after her first win in a WSOPC Ladies Event at Choctaw Durant in 2019. Of her eight rings, five have come from Ladies Events, including victories in Tulsa, Southern Indiana, and now Choctaw Durant.

After her record win, Belote was quick to share her thoughts, “I literally travel everywhere trying to accomplish this.” While she hinted at slowing down after this , she also mentioned plans to compete at the upcoming WSOPC Tunica. Before we get to Tunica, let’s break down this Ladies Event first.

The $250 Ladies Event at Choctaw Durant drew 115 entries, generating a $23,000 prize pool. Pamela Belote entered the final table with one of the shorter stacks but navigated her way back into contention.

Her recent close calls were likely just fuel to the fire. A little before the event, Belote finished second in the $600 Escalating Bounty event after her pocket aces were cracked by Sims White’s two-pair. If that wasn’t enough, Belote also took fifth in the $400 Monster Stack just days before.

In the Ladies Event, Belote reached heads-up play against Bonnie Weitzel of Texarkana, Texas, a WSOPC regular with $100,000 in live tournament winnings. The final hand would decide not just the tournament winner but also Belote’s place in WSOP history.

The Final Hand: Belote v Weitzel

In the final hand, Belote held A 7 , while Weitzel held K 8 . Both players went all-in preflop. The board ran out K 4 2 10 6 , giving Weitzel top pair on the flop but ultimately delivering Belote a flush on the river.

With this hand, Belote secured her eighth WSOPC ring. This put Weitzel in second place, ultimately earning $3,808.
