The Triton Poker Super High Roller Series 2022 in Bali has been cancelled and postponed to a later date in the year due to the Omikron variant spreading worldwide. Originally, the tournament series called “A Helping Hand for Charity” was scheduled to start on February 17th. Last week, however, the organiser, Triton, announced that they would postpone the tournament for safety reasons, as a smooth hosting could not be guaranteed.
We are devastated to share this news with you.

After careful consideration, and in light of the Omicron variant (COVID-19) developments, we are postponing the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series 2022, Bali – A Helping Hand for Charity. pic.twitter.com/HrfHeAHifx
While the pandemic situation in Bali is still comparatively safe, it seems questionable at the moment that players from all countries will be able to enter safely, as it appears at the moment that international air traffic will become more difficult in the coming weeks and months due to the Omikron variant of the coronavirus. Under this impression, postponing the event is the best decision.
As Triton further explains on Twitter, “Rescheduling the 1st event will enable us to provide the experience that our players, partners, and team members expect and deserve in a safe environment. We are exploring options to reschedule the event and are working to provide a new experience as soon as possible.”
A total of 11 events were scheduled with buy-ins ranging from $30,000 to $200,000.
Triton Highroller now kicks off in Russia
A little later, Triton announced in a press release that tournaments in Sochi, Russia, will now kick off this year’s Highroller season.
These run from March 1st until 6th in Sochi and have buy-ins ranging from $50,000 to $125,000. These will take place in the week before the Super Highroller events in Sotchi.
Triton Series CEO Andy Wong said that while he was disappointed that Triton was unable to have players battle it out on the felt in Bali, the company is confident that it can still deliver excitement and thrills in Sochi. Said Wong: “We know that these tournaments are valued favorites, and we thank our fans, partners and team for their continued support as we stay on course with providing our fans significant live coverage of our exclusive games.”
