Jesus Resurrected: Chris Ferguson Resurfaces at 2016 WSOP

Former Team Full Tilt member Chris “Jesus” Ferguson played his first WSOP event after a five-year absence late last night.

Ferguson busted the $10k Seven-Card Stud event last night but returned today to play the $1,000 Top-Up Turbo event.

The California-native declined an interview but didn’t appear to receive any hostility from the other players at his table.

Ferguson’s last cash at the WSOP took place way back in in late June of 2010 when he finished 48th in the $2,500 World Championship Mixed Event for $4,573.

Lederer Still Missing from WSOP

Ferguson has been missing from the World Series of Poker and the poker world in general since April, 2011, when online poker’s Black Friday saw top sites PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and Absolute Poker/UB all indicted by the Department of Justice.

Full Tilt failed pay back its players after exiting the US market and later that year the DOJ accused certain principals of Full Tilt of defrauding their players of more than $300 million.

Ferguson’s lawyer denied the allegations.

Players on Full Tilt Poker would have to wait until 2014 to finally get their frozen accounts back and even then it was only because PokerStars made a deal with the DOJ to purchase Full Tilt and pay players back.

While a number of the poker pros who were associated with Full Tilt Poker did show up for the 2011 WSOP both Ferguson and Howard Lederer were conspicuously absent and remained so in subsequent years.

Earlier this year Lederer apologized for his actions, which led many to speculate he might make an appearance in this year’s WSOP. So far, Lederer has yet to play an event in the 2016 WSOP.
