Jared Bleznick Defeats Patrik Antonius in the Third Match of High Stakes Duel, Becoming the New Champion

Jared Bleznick won three consecutive heads-up matches, forcing Patrik Antonius to wave white flag. This means one thing: Jared Bleznick is the new champion of High Stakes Duel 5, taking home $800K and the championship belt. Here’s how the final match unfolded.

The First Major Pot Played Late in the Second Hour

PLO $800/$1,600. Antonius completed with K 3 8 2 , Bleznick checked with 10 5 5 2 . On the flop 8 4 5 , Antonius bet 50% of the pot. On the turn A , Bleznick seized the initiative and bet $3K into a $6.4K pot. By this point, both had flushes (Antonius holding the nuts). Antonius raised to $9K, and Bleznick called. On the river 4 , Bleznick hit a full house ($36,4K pot).

But just a few hands later, Antonius recovered his stack when Bleznick made an unsuccessful bluff on the river.

The Final Hand

NLHE $4K/$8K. Antonius open-jammed for $123K with K 4 . Bleznick asked for a count and called with A 5 .

“Show me King-high. I know. It doesn’t matter, I have to win. I’m going to tell you this right now – I’m being honest – win or lose, I’ve completely outplayed you. You can pick, I don’t care. The world gets to see every single hand. You pick, my friend,” Bleznick said after calling.

And the four came. Flop: 4 7 2

“This is why I don’t play poker anymore. Need three! I deserved a three!” Bleznick exclaimed.

And it came! Turn: 3

“Thank you!” said Bleznick at the end of the match.

Antonius left the table in a hurry but returned to officially concede by throwing the white flag, concluding High Stakes Duel 5.
