The biggest names are often the loudest when it comes to online poker. So, unsurprisingly, it’s refreshing to see some other name pop up and announce a tournament series. This time around, that honor goes to Global Poker, who’s come out with its Micro Thunder Series VIII (August 18th – August 25th).

Those who’ve played previous editions already know the drill – this is a series with the smallest of buy-ins and the monstrous prizes. So, let’s see what the latest Micro Thunder edition has in store.

Micro Thunder Series VIII – What We Know

The idea if fairly simple, during this week (August 18th – August 25th), players will have the chance to play with tiny buy-ins for massive prizes. As Global Poker puts it, just by logging into Global Poker each day consecutively can cover the buy-ins.

The eight edition of the Micro Thunder Series will also be the biggest to date, promises a total of GC 40,000,000 and SC 81,500 over 36 GC events and another 36 SC events. The buy-ins are as low as possible, starting from just GC 250 and SC 0.25.

What’s There to Play For?

As you’d expect, everyone will be working their way up the Gods of Thunder Final Events, which hold the biggest cash prizes. However, prize money isn’t the only thing on the table now.

In addition to the GTDs, players also have the chance to score Micro Thunder Series merchandise, as well as gain exclusive entries to the Gold Coin and Sweeps Coin Gods of Thunder Events. Both GC & SC Gods of Thunder Events will take place on Sunday September 1st at 4:30pm ET.

Introducing the Global Poker Academy

Apart from successfully hosting the Micro Thunder Series for the eight time, Global Poker is expanding in other ways as well.

Together with this Micro Thunder edition, the online poker room has also announced the launch of its Global Poker Academy.
