GGPoker Joins Forces with AWS Amid Security and Performance Issues

The last few weeks of February have not been kind to GGPoker, as the poker giant found itself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. For one, what was meant to be a celebration of its flagship GGMasters Anniversary tournament turned into a logistical nightmare, leaving players disconnected, frustrated, and demanding answers. At the same time, the platform’s ongoing efforts to crack down on unfair play resulted in 31 player accounts getting banned.
Now, in what seems like a move to answer players calling for improvements, GGPoker has announced a new partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) — designed to reinforce its security, enhance fraud detection, and, perhaps most importantly, rebuild player trust.
It’s Been a Rough February for GGPoker
Like we said, GGPoker’s decision to publicly highlight its new security efforts wasn’t made in a vacuum. Recent weeks have seen the platform dealing with a wave of issues, starting with player bans and escalating into full-blown tournament meltdowns.
On February 23, the highly anticipated 5th Anniversary edition of the GGMasters Anniversary event — with its $5 million guarantee — was thrown into disarray after GGPoker’s servers crashed mid-tournament. Players were disconnected en masse, and the event was postponed to March 2, only to be cancelled entirely after repeated technical failures on Day 2.
After encountering further issues, the unfortunate decision has been made to cancel the tournament.

We understand the inconveniences for players throughout, and we sincerely apologize.

It’s safe to say that this cancellation sparked an uproar, with players voicing frustrations all over social media. Many recreational players had rearranged their schedules to take part in the tournament, while others with deep stacks felt particularly aggrieved by receiving only a buy-in refund after hours of play.
In the same window, GGPoker also drew attention for announcing the ban of 31 player accounts due to violations of its fair play rules. That enforcement, carried out in collaboration with GTO Wizard, was framed as a win for game integrity — but for some players, it also raised fresh concerns about the platform’s overall stability and security systems.
In collaboration with @GTOWizard, we have blocked 31 player accounts for violating our fair play rules. Together, we are continuously strengthening our security measures to protect the integrity of the game.

What GGPoker’s AWS Partnership Means
In what could be argued is a response to these recent challenges, GGPoker announced a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services — a global leader in cloud technology and security solutions. According to the online poker giant, the collaboration is intended to upgrade GGPoker’s fraud detection, real-time monitoring, and data analysis capabilities.
At the heart of this partnership is AWS’s advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning infrastructure, which will allow GGPoker to:
✅ Analyze millions of transactions in real time.
✅ Detect suspicious betting patterns and gameplay anomalies.
✅ Proactively block fraudulent activity before it affects players.
The partnership is also a major boost in server reliability and scalability — a particularly important point after the GGMasters debacle. By leveraging AWS’s cloud-based architecture, GGPoker could better manage spikes in player traffic, helping prevent the kind of crashes that have marred recent events.
If you were to ask GGPoker, this partnership is part of their broader commitment to fair play and security, describing it as a way to “protect the integrity of the game” across all stakes and formats. AWS, for its part, has already showcased the collaboration on its own website, highlighting how the technology is being used to strengthen the platform’s ability to detect collusion, chip dumping, and other forms of cheating.
So, What’s Next?
From the looks of it, this partnership with AWS is more than just a security upgrade for GGPoker — it’s also a public statement that the platform is listening. After weeks of player complaints, technical failures, and some serious social media backlash, GGPoker needs to show that it can provide a stable, transparent, and secure poker environment.
The question now is whether these upgrades can translate into tangible improvements players actually feel at the tables. We’ll have to wait and see.
