GG World Festival Returns to GGPoker with $250M in Guarantees

GG World Festival Returns to GGPoker with $250M in Guarantees

Online poker’s largest festival is back — and surprise surprise, GGPoker is aiming big. The GG World Festival returns on May 4, (for now) promising a colossal $250 million in guaranteed prizes over five weeks of tournaments. With over 1,600 events packed into the schedule and a four-tier buy-in structure, this festival is set to dominate the online poker calendar through June 10.

Just like last year, from micro grinders to nosebleed crushers, the 2025 GG World Festival is designed to accommodate players across the spectrum. And if last year’s numbers are anything to go by — with 5.1 million entries and $330 million in payouts — GGPoker might be expecting to raise the bar even further this time.

So, lets break it all down.

Four Tiers, $3M in Leaderboard Prizes, and More Than 1,600 Events

The GG World Festival schedule is split into four buy-in tiers, each packed with 400 tournaments:

  • Low Tier: $3+ buy-ins
  • Medium Tier: $26+ buy-ins
  • High Tier: $151+ buy-ins
  • Super Tier: $1,051+ buy-ins

Each tier features its own leaderboard, with a share of the $3 million leaderboard prize pool on the line. Here’s how that leaderboard prize money breaks down:

  • Low Tier: $300,000
  • Medium Tier: $700,000
  • High Tier: $1 million
  • Super Tier: $1 million

While some tournaments are exclusive to the festival, many are supersized editions of GGPoker’s regular weekly lineup — the same formats players are familiar with, but with enhanced prize pools and deeper structures.

Average guarantees reflect the scale of the series, with estimates suggesting around $30,000 per event in the Low tier, scaling all the way up to $300,000 per tournament in the Super tier.

The GG World Festival Headliners: Three $10M Flagship Events

As always, GGPoker has lined up a trio of $10 million guaranteed tournaments to headline the series:

  • $525 Global Mystery Bounty Festival – Day 2 on May 19
  • $1,500 GG World Championship – Day 2 on May 26
  • $10,300 GGMillion$ Super Main Event – Day 2 on June 2

Each of these flagship events follows GGPoker’s popular phased format, allowing players to enter multiple Day 1s before advancing to Day 2. The Mystery Bounty format in particular has proven hugely popular in recent years and is expected to draw big fields in 2025.

A Bit Beyond the Headlines: Side Events and Regional Highlights

Outside the three marquee events, the schedule is packed with a mix of formats and variants. Notable side events include:

  • $250 Global Mystery Bounty Festival – $5M GTD
  • $55 Global World Festival – $2M+ GTD
  • $5.50 Global Mystery Million Festival – $1M GTD

PLO players have plenty to look forward to as well, including:

  • $250 Omaholic Festival Closer – $500K GTD
  • $1,500 Omaholic Championship – $1M GTD
  • $25,500 GGMillion$ Omaholic Edition – $1M GTD

Short Deck and regional Zodiac events — using CNY-denominated buy-ins — are also make their return, continuing the idea that GGPoker is catering a truly global player base.

“Where Legends Are Made”

No surprise there, GGPoker ambassador Daniel Negreanu is once again at the forefront of the campaign, describing the GG World Festival as more than just another tournament series:

Daniel Negreanu

This is where legends are made.

It’s a familiar line, but one that still rings true for many players. After all, with the kind of prize pools and structures on offer for the 2025 edition, the GG World Festival continues to attract just the right combination of elite-level competition and a vast recreational player base, all looking to take their shot.

Could the GG World Festival Surpass $250M?

While the official guarantee remains at $250 million for 2025, GGPoker has hinted that actual payouts could exceed that significantly. If 2024 is any indication — with payouts pushing $330 million across 1,623 tournaments — then this year’s edition could become the biggest online poker series ever held.

And while PokerStars’ SCOOP is also set to run in May, early indications suggest GGPoker will once again lead the pack in terms of raw volume and guarantees. SCOOP’s full schedule hasn’t yet been announced, but early projections estimate $70 million in total guarantees — less than a third of what’s up for grabs at GG.
