In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Zlatan Ibrahimovic reportedly turning down PokerStars, a new poker bill to thwart RAWA and Dan Cates with an unusual suggestion for the WSOP.

1) Report: Zlatan Ibrahimovic Passes on PokerStars

PokerStars’ current famous footballer.

Take this one with a serious grain of salt but word on the Internet is that football superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic passed on a multi-million euro offer to represent PokerStars.

According to French newspaper Le Parisien there was a deal in place that would have paid Ibrahimovic €3-4 million a year to represent the site.

Apparently Ibrahimovic decided to pass on the deal last minute. The was no information as to why Ibrahimovic made the decisian although he does already make €15 million a year playing for Paris Saint-Germain.

It’s not completely out of question considering PokerStars currently has a roster that includes sports stars Rafael Nadal, Ronaldo and Fatima Moreira de Melo.

If PokerStars still wants a world-class footballer on the roster there are plenty of good options such as Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale, Neymar, or maybe even Gerard Piqué who’s already played a few EPTs and WSOP events.

2) Barton to Launch Pro-Poker Bill on Heels of RAWA

It was tough to see this one coming.

The first outcome of the recent hearing for Sheldon Adelson’s anti-online poker bill is a different bill that would explicitly legalize online poker in the USA.

Not what Sheldon Adelson intended.

Texas Rep. Joe Barton plans on filing the bill in the next month.

The bill would allow each state the opportunity to decide whether to legalize online poker. Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware have already legalized online poker.

The biggest difference is that the new bill would only legalize online poker and wouldn’t apply to the lottery and other games of chance.

A poker fan, Barton found it ironic that Texas Hold’em is played legally nearly everywhere but Texas.

3) Dan Cates: “There Should Be a WSOP Winner Take All Event”

You know what, Dan? You’re right.

Dan “jungleman12” Cates has the right idea for a WSOP event that would shake up the current schedule of endless low buy-in NLHE events:

Just give one of the tournaments a winner-take-all format.

Yes, please. I mean they’ve already forever sullied the affair with (gasp) online bracelets on WSOP Poker – why not a winner take all, too?

There’s a good chance Cates is at least partially joking (or maybe not) but a winner-take-all tournament would certainly be fascinating for spectators as everyone would be willing to take some risks to build a big stack.

It would also make for pretty great TV when the idea of a deal is first presented at the final table.

Interestingly there has already been one winner-take-all event at the WSOP. The 2004 WSOP Tournament of Champions had $2 million up top for eventual winner Annie Duke and everyone else got squat (although there were rumors of a deal).
