Daily Poker 3-Bet: Benger $1m Score, Bull Poker Gore, Hello 2015!

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is an angry bull, a joker on his horns and emergency femur reattachment in the afternoon poker news intensive care unit.

Have something you’d like featured in a future 3-Bet? Let us know in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we find Griffin Benger reaping the rewards of the PokerStars Shark Cage $1m freeroll, Bull Rider Austin Bottcher fails the “know when to fold ’em” test and poker pros descend on the 2015 PCA in the Bahamas.

1) Benger Tops Tindall for $1m Freebie

It got some mixed reviews when it started but there’s no question PokerStars’ newest foray into the TV poker space – Shark Cage – ended with a flourish.

Miss Finland’s scintillating bluff on Ronnie Bardah was the highlight of Season 1 for most, although Canada’s Griffin Benger might feel a bit differently.

In case you missed it over the holidays Parts 1 and 2 of the final table in London were posted and, as things happened to play out, Benger took home the FREE $1m.

Parts 1 and 2 of the final table in London below. Note to sensitive viewers: Mike Tindall’s nose is not for the faint of heart.

Fans of The Big Game are calling for its return in 2015 over another season of Shark Cage, but we’re happy with either. Any poker on TV is good poker on TV. Thanks again PokerStars!

2) Bull Rider Gored in Cowboy Poker Debacle

Most rodeos have forgone the old tradition of a game of Cowboy Poker at their events because, well, it’s insane.

Premise: A hand of poker is played in the middle of a bull ring – with an angry bull in said ring. The person who stays at the table the longest wins the cash in the middle.

At a New Year’s Day rodeo in Oregon this year there was an extra twist – the bull had a joker on one of its horns. The first cowboy to get the joker won the pot.

As you might guess, given that it’s in the 3-Bet, things didn’t go well for Austin Bottcher:

If there’s a lesson to be learned here, it’s clearly that Jokers don’t belong in poker.

3) Poker’s Annual Reunion at the PCA in the Bahamas

Poker’s annual reunion/starmaker/party/wallet-cruncher at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas is about to get underway tomorrow with a 40-player+ $100k Super High Roller.

As you might expect after an extended holiday break post WPT Bellagio/EPT Prague, poker enthusiasts around the globe have descended on Nassau like a hive of hungry bees.

Who will be this year’s breakout star? Who will collect one of the most esteemed titles in poker? Tune in for the live stream right here starting tomorrow to find out.

In the meantime, here’s the general giddiness going around Twitter:
