This night one of the more expensive WSOP events as Chad Eveslage took down the $25k High Roller, won his maiden bracelet and more than $1.4 million.
The World Series of Poker 2022 started out with several big buy-in events, including the $100k Bounty High Roller and the $25k Heads-Up. Those early and expensive events were well attended and the $25k High Roller was no exception. A total of 251 entries created a prize pool of almost $6 million.
The final table of the event was an almost all-American affair. Only last year’s Main Event winner Koray Aldemir from Germany and Ognyan Dimov from Bulgaria hailed from Europe. But both were eliminated very early during the final table.
Chad Eveslage who began the final day in 2nd position behind Chris Brewer took the lead when he scooped a huge pot against Brewer with a set against top pair. A little while later he knocked out Koray Aldemir and Brek Schutten in a lucky punch when he moved all-in from the button with K-8 suited and Aldemir who had 6 big blinds called in the small blind with K-Q and Schutten overcalled with 17 big blinds and A-J. Despite being dominated in this showdown, Eveslage won the pot by rivering a straight to take an insurmountable lead.
Chad Eveslage managed to convert that lead into a victory after beating Jake Schindler, who was also eying his first bracelet, heads-up. He was happy about the victory and the new venue. Eveslage told PokerNews: “I feel good. It’s nice to win. It’s a lot of money after a tough tournament. The venue is great; it’s definitely an upgrade from the Rio!”

Alex Livingston Captures First Bracelet in Stud Event

The third event to finish this night was the $1,500 Stud tournament. The Canadian Alex Livingston, who in 2019 finished third in the WSOP Main Event beat a field of 329 players and won his first bracelet against Daniel Weinman.
Livingston, who used to almost exclusively play cash games, had an easy explanation for why he won a Stud bracelet. He told PokerNews: ” Stud is not my best game, I just ran crazy, ask anyone. I did a good job of keeping my foot on the gas as others were battling for pay jumps but at the same time, I ran so pure the entire tournament. It honestly feels kinda fluky.”
