Brian Rast beat one of the toughest fields ever assembled to win the $500k buy-in Super High Roller Bowl for $7.5 million at Aria last night.
A former WSOP $50k Players Champion Rast seems to bring his best when he’s playing against the best.
The SHRB would certainly qualify with heavy hitters Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari, Sam Trickett and numerous others buying into the tournament.
Seidel Busts First, Drinan Finds Redemption
The final table offered a compelling mix of old school pros like Erik Seidel and young guns Tom Marchese, Timofey “Trueteller” Kuznetsov, Scott Seiver and Connor Drinan.
Seidel, who has an exceptional record in Super High Roller tournaments, was actually the first player to bust as he couldn’t overcome a short stack.
Scott Seiver came to play and briefly took the chip lead after doubling through Rast during three-handed play.
Unperturbed Rast busted Connor Drinan in third place to go into heads-up play against Seiver.
Drinan earned $3.2 million for third. It was a nice redemption story for Drinan who busted out of the $1m buy-in Big One for One Drop in an incredibly sick hand with AA vs. AA.
Seiver has a ton of live tournament success but the runner-up SHRB finish for $5.1m represents his biggest score by far.
Meanwhile Rast soared to $15.6 million in lifetime live-tournament earnings, nearly double what he had prior to entering the SHRB. He now stands 11th in all-time live tournament earnings.
