Now one more player might be added to that list this summer – as long as they’ve qualified via 888poker.

The main sponsors of the 2017 World Series of Poker, 888poker has announced it will make sure that the new world champion of poker will receive a $10 million prize.
Meaning no matter how much you win if you become the new poker world champion, 888poker will add as much money as needed to make it an exact $10m.
Last year, for example, that would have meant almost $2 million more for champion Qui Nguyen. For Joe McKeehen in 2015, that would have been $2.5 million added to his winner check.
In fact in the history of the WSOP only two players wouldn’t have received extra money from 888poker – Jacobson in 2014, when $10m was guaranteed to the winner, and Gold in 2006 when he won the biggest main event ever and cashed for $12 million.
So 2017 will be just the third year ever the WSOP champion will walk away with an eight-figure score.
888poker Gets You There
The requirement for the added payout is that you qualified online for your Main Event seat on 888poker.
Direct satellites for this year’s Main Event run every Sunday on 888poker until June 28 and have a buy-in of $1,050 but you can also make your way through the Steps tournaments.
These start at whichever buy-in level you please with the lowest being just 1 cent.
Qualifying for the main event on 888poker doesn’t just mean a seat, either. If you do you’ll receive a complete package worth $12,000 that includes:
- $1,200 for travel expenses
- Accommodation at the 5-Star Vdara Hotel
- Daily Shuttle Service in Las Vegas
- VIP Welcome Session
- 888poker merchandise kit
