888poker Live Kicks off With a Bang in Madrid

It’s indicative of the healthy state of both real money online poker and the traditional Bricks & Mortar version that collaborations between the two continue to prosper. It’s normal nowadays to see online operators that started their business on the worldwide web cross over to the live arena and go from strength to strength as a result, and 888poker is one such.

Clearly starting 2023 as they intend to continue, 888poker recently kicked off the first leg of their LIVE tour in the inviting surroundings of the Casino Gran Via in Spain’s attractive capital, Madrid. The Main Event had a guarantee of €300,000 which, thanks to a big field that saw 514 entries, ballooned to a massive €415,312 that meant the top 53 finishers would pocket at least €1,600, with the eventual victor taking home a tasty €92,000.

Whether you’re an online poker tournament regular or an inexperienced recreational player, it’s always worth having a go at the great value online qualifiers for live events such as the 888poker Live Poker Festival because, as we know, poker brings with it so much potential.

As far as the action in the tournament itself is concerned, the field was eventually stripped down to two contenders, namely Spain’s Adrian Garcia and Oleg Bystrenin of Russia, the former entering the heads-up stage with a formidable 4:1 chip lead. Matters came to a decisive conclusion when Oleg decided to shove from the Button holding QJ and was called by Adrian, who put his faith in his K6… Despite a scary looking Flop of Ks5cTc (giving Oleg an up-and-down straight draw), Adrian survived the Turn’s Td and the River’s 6h to take top honours, the trophy and €92,000! Oleg went away with a cool €60,000 for his very impressive second place.
