5-Day Festival, Habs Legends Welcome 888Live to Montreal in June

Not even two years after it was invented, the 888poker Live Local series has become so successful that Europe just isn’t enough anymore.

888poker’s popular low buy-in live tournament series conquered new ground in Australia and Brazil last year and is set to expand to a new continent again next month.

The famous Playground Poker Club in Montreal will be the tour’s first stop in North America with a 5-day festival planned for June.

888Live Local Different Kind of Showcase

From June 15-20 888poker will make it worth crossing the pond with a showcase a little different from the European events.

Worth the trip.

The buy-in for the main event will be CAD$550 with one re-entry allowed per flight. You’ll start with 25,000 chips and the levels will be 30 minutes long.

In addition to the regular schedule there will be a charity event. This tournament will have a buy-in of CAD$160 and there will be four flights to play in.

To spice things up a little there’s a guaranteed prize pool of CAD$100,000. And $25 of each buy-in will go straight to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

This charity institution goes to amazing lengths to bring joy and laughter into the lives of children suffering from serious and chronic diseases.

If you want to be a supporter, or if you just want to find out more about the institute, go to starlightcanada.org.

Robinson, Lafleur and Carbonneau On Board

According to players like Kara Scott and Faraz Jaka, who call Montreal one of their favorite places, the Playground Poker Club alone is reason enough to take a trip to the Great White North.

Canada is also proud of its hockey players and several legends of the game have already announced their participation, including:

  • Larry Robinson – Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1995, Robinson is a Montreal Canadiens legend and former coach. He is currently an associate coach for the San Jose Sharks.
  • Guy Lafleur – Another Habs legend was the first to score 50 goals and 100 points in six straight NHL seasons. Over the course of 17 seasons he played for the Canadiens, New York Rangers and Quebec Nordiques.
  • Guy Carbonneau – Retired NHL player who originally played for the Canadiens and won the Stanley Cup in 1985-86 and again in 1992-93. He also played for the Los Angeles Kings, St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars. He won a third Cup with the Stars in 1998-99.
