Electric 888poker Super XL Series Ends on High w/ $350k Deal

Electric 888poker Super XL Series Ends on High w/ $350k Deal

Thirty-eight events. Nearly double the guaranteed prize pools. A two-way deal to split $350k in the Main Event.

The 888poker Super XL tournament series came to a close over the weekend on a fittingly high note after it exceeded even the loftiest of expectations.

A massive field of 1,180 players registered for the $1,050 main event to generate a $1.18m prize pool split among the top 153 players.

After 12h 30min of play all the chips and $170k had gone to one single player – carmen1957 from the UK. And that wasn’t event the largest chunk of the prize pool.

After the final two struck a deal jnevanli from Finland received more than $180k for his second-place finish.

Sudden Set-Up Ends Things

After the deal there was only the title to play for and it looked like it could go one for a while

Then a sudden set-up ended the finale when carmen1957 hit a higher set on the flop than jnevanli.

Despite the disappointment of missing out on the title, jnevanli still won a lot more than that as he was also victorious in 888poker’s first satellite to the 2016 WSOP.

Along with his $182k the Finn is now booked for a trip to Vegas for the greatest tournament series in the world

$3.6m in Payouts Doubled Guarantees

The first of the 38 events – the $160 buy-in opener – got things started last week with a new record for 888poker. It was the largest tournament with over a $100 buy-in.

A total of 1,675 players played down to a winner on the first night of the festival. That winner was thesecretvms from Brazil, who added $60,145.29 to the bankroll.

More action coming.

The High Roller event was the most expensive tournament that 888poker has ever run. The buy-in was $1,500 and the winner of the top prize of $90,521.23 was SamSaymon from Russia.

With 4,973 players the Micro Main Event became the largest event ever to be played on 888 and ineedustack from Belarus managed to turn his $5 buy-in into almost $3,200.

One of the shortest events was the $75 buy-in, $10k guaranteed Super Turbo Main Event. Here, rozkoszny7 needed 113 minutes to bank $26,718. That corresponds to a wage of $236 per minute.

The overall prize pool of $3.6 million for the series was more than doubled — another record for the series.

Second Series in the Works?

The most impressive performances were those of SamSaymon and _rudinhos_. The former didn’t just win the High Roller event he also finished fifth in the Turbo, second in the $55 Turbo 6-Max and 28th in the Main Event.

_rudinhos_ came third in the High Roller, won the $160 Turbo High Roller, won the $44 Mini Quarterback and finally finished the Main Event in 20th place.

In fact the Super XL was such a success that 888poker is now thinking about hosting a second large tournament series in 2016.
