VeniVidi1993’ Results in 2024

Dirk Gerritse met the end of 2024 with a huge amount of money: +$2,895,000. He declared this year “the most successful and, at the same time, balanced year that I’ve had in my life”.

As a hard worker, Gerritse didn’t rush to take sole credit for his success. Instead, he confessed that there were three key factors that helped him:

1. Running well.
2. Working with the right people.
3. Having/finding the right action.

As he explained in detail:

“Running hot in the right spots is the most important aspect of having a successful poker year, especially at the highest stakes, where volume is less of a factor. As shown in the graphs, I not only ran very well when it came to hitting hands, but whenever the money went in, I received, on average, quite a bit more than I was supposed to win.

Poker is a game of information: have more of it than your opponent, and you will win in the long run. Instead of relying on the structure that was in place before my hiatus, I was forced to switch to a system of hiring people to sharpen my skills in designated areas as freelancers.”

He thanked four people in particular: Eric, Leszek, Gareth James, and Benjamin Rolle, for helping him on his poker journey without mentioning their exact contributions. At the end, Gerritse spoke about every other person who supported him during 2024:

“To everyone who supported me throughout the year – my friends, my family, my viewers, and my coaches – thank you. Your encouragement kept me motivated and grounded. Happy new year everyone!”

Three Fun Facts About VeniVidi1993’s Most Successful Year

1. In the comments, Gerritse shared that the lion share of his winnings came from CoinPoker. The fact is especially interesting since he only started regularly playing on CoinPoker halfway throughout the year. His primary poker rooms at the start of the $1,000,000 Challenge were GGPoker and ACR Poker, and occasionally PokerStars.
2. The legendary $1,000,000 Challenge concluded on October 15th, 2024 when he reached +$1,134,662 of money on his account. PokerListings published a recap of this challenge in the Veni, Vidi, Got Carried Away: The Continuing Challenge of VeniVidi1993 article.
3. In the second half of 2024, Dirk tested his skills in live poker three times. For the first time since 2017, he managed to reach ITMs in live events. TheHendonMob registered on his account six paid places without final tables, including at the WSOP in Las Vegas, Triton Poker SHRS in Monaco, and the WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas. His total winnings from these adventures are $488,214 with the biggest cash being $243,340 for 10th place in $100K PLO Super High Rollers at WSOP Paradise. 

By the way, at WSOP Paradise, VeniVidi1993 also managed to make friendly photo with Daniel Negreanu and happily shared it on X with an announcement of busting out from $100k PLO SHR:
