24-year-old Yinan Zhou wins the $25K WSOP Paradise Super Main Event ($6M)

Before this tournament, Yinan Zhou had $88K in total live earnings. His best result was also here in the Bahamas, at the $5K Main Event last year: 28th place for $72K.

Yinan Zhou bluffed his idol Michael Addamo to victory

Zhou started the final table with the 6th largest stack. At 7-max, he successfully bluffed and knocked out his idol, Michael Addamo.

Zhou entered heads-up play against Marcelo Aziz with nearly even stacks. The heads-up play lasted two hours. Zhou had little luck in all-ins throughout the final table, getting all-in four times but never winning. Perhaps Zhou was just saving up for his last all-in.

“It is big money. Now I feel good. I decide to play more, practice more, study more to become better and better, to fight against the best and become the best,” Zhou said in interview after the tournament.

Two records were set in the $25K WSOP Paradise Super Main Event

  1. Marcelo Aziz finished 2nd, earning $4.6M – the largest single payout in Brazilian poker history. Aziz didn’t spend a cent to enter the tournament, as he won his seat through a Flipout on GGPoker.
  2. Liv Boeree finished 4th, taking home $2.8M – the biggest cash by a female player in poker history. While some may think Boeree has returned to professional poker, she clarified that this is not the case. Liv shared that she wants to focus on her media career and plans to play only 1-2 tournaments a year. Notably, Liv pledged to donate 20% of her winnings to charity.
