For some players “lucky in poker — lucky in love” is a saying that simply came true. They managed to find their soulmates through their shared passion for the game. So, feeling sentimental, PokerListings is sharing three of these poker-meets-love stories with you.
Kristen Foxen (Bicknell) and Alex Foxen
One of the coolest couples in poker have to be Kristen Bicknell and Alex Foxen. The two got married in April 2022 after at least 5 years of dating.

There’s no doubt they’re both top-notch players. After all, they’ve almost never had a year year without a victory in some big live or online poker event.
Kristen banked her latest victory just before this article was written: Foxen won the $15,100 NLH Event #7 in the PokerGO Cup and took home $348,300 with a trophy just two days ago, February 19th, 2025.

The last time Alex took home a title prior to this article was in December 2024, when he shone in the $106,000 WSOP Paradise Triton Main Event and took home $3,850,000.
If you didn’t know, as of February 20th, 2025 Alex Foxen had almost $49M in winnings according to The Hendon Mob from 417 ITMs in live events since 2012, while Kristen exceeded $9M in winnings from 249 ITMs in live events since 2006.
They’re both only fierce opponents on the felt but also a great example of spousal support when it comes to their poker goals and dreams. If one of them reaches the TV table and another is free at that moment, we always see them supporting each other on the rail, talking during breaks and cheering for one another after their victories.

Phil Galfond and Farah (Fath) Galfond
Phil and Farah Galfond are that kind of poker couple all of us aspire to be. The two started talking way back in 2012 on Twitter about different aspects of poker. Then, they became a couple in 2013, got married in 2015 and became parents to their son Spencer in 2018.

When they met, Farah Fath was already a well-known actress, most known for her roles of Mimi Lockhart in “Days of Our Lives” and Gigi Morasco in “One Life to Live”. From the 2010s, Fath started regularly playing live poker and participating in poker shows such as High Stakes Poker, Poker Night in America and Poker After Dark.

Simultaneously, Phil Galfond was evolving as a professional poker player, coach and businessman. He played high stakes cash games, primarily online, made his own Run It Once training website, tried to open his own poker room and sometimes even played some live poker tournaments. He also was among participants of the High Stakes Poker show.

Despite the fact that Phil has much more experience in poker, he’s always the first to boast about her poker achievements, praising her skills and abilities as a professional poker player. It’s obvious they’re not just two people in love, but great friends who always can always make each other laugh.
Daniel Negreanu and Amanda Leatherman
These two are undoubtedly the most charismatic and, at the same time, most maniac (but in a good way) couples in poker. Daniel and Amanda met during the early 2000s, when Amanda worked as a live reporter on poker events and Daniel Negreanu was already a poker star. He was actually the first person she interviewed in her career.

They found each other instantly attractive and even tried to be together for some time. Unfortunately, some personal issues kept them from each other again and again over the years. They openly talk about these struggles and aspects of living with bipolar disorder on their MANIA Podcast, which you can watch on YouTube and understand their story in detail.
The good thing is they finally came together and did not part their ways since 2018, finding balance resulting in their 2019 wedding motto: “You keep me safe, I keep you wild” — with Daniel being responsible for the first part and Amanda for the second.

As of 2025, Amanda is Daniel’s biggest fan, best friend and greatest support in his poker career and life. And Daniel is her rock helping her keep it real, be balanced and overall happy even when her mental health becomes fragile.

The support they show each other, knowing their history, is just inspiring. Although Amanda herself does not play professionally, she’s always ready to cheer Daniel and celebrates his achievements.
