The Ultimate WSOP Stats: Hellmuth’s Bracelets, Mateos on the Hunt

While the record-breaking Main Event of the World Series of Poker 2024 (WSOP) is down to its final days, we are going to walk through a few interesting statistics from the entire WSOP history. We’ve witnessed remarkable achievements over the years, and it’s time to place them into perspective!

Phil Hellmuth: Most Event Wins

When you think about the poker player who collected the most event wins during the World Series Of Poker, there can only be one correct answer: Phil Hellmuth.

Over the years, he has collected a whopping amount of 17 golden bracelets. It’s remarkable that Phil Hellmuth has won most of those bracelets (11) after 2000.

To make a rough comparison: Three players from the all-time top 10 of the bracelets leaderboard such as Doyle Brunson, Johnny Moss, and Johnny Chan, all had won their bracelets during the ‘70s and ‘80s when the playing fields were significantly smaller. It makes Phil Hellmuth’s achievement of collecting 17 bracelets over the years even more impressive.

Another impressive statistic is that Phil Hellmuth has cashed in 194 different events during the World Series of Poker, and a whopping total of 63 events he even managed to get a top-six finish! In other words, in 1 out of 3 events he cashed in, he managed to get a top-six finish!

Daniel Negreanu: Most WSOP Cashes

Daniel Negreanu is a synonym for the one player who grinds the absolute most events at the World Series Of Poker. Not only does he have an incredible seven golden bracelets, of which one of this year’s WSOP, but he is also the leader when it comes to the number of live cashes during the entire event’s history.

While there are eight events listed in the table above, one of them is apparently not awarded with a golden bracelet keepings Negreanu’s count at 7. With that said, for the purpose of our statistics, we’ve taken all WSOP events into consideration. This means that the WSOP Europe and the WSOP Asia Pacific are also counted.

If you compare the percentage of the amount of top-six finished for Daniel Negreanu versus the total cashes (236), then you would end up with 20%, significantly lower than the 33% of Phil Hellmuth.

So, if you ask yourself if Phil Hellmuth has the right to say he is the best player of the entire World Series Of Poker when it comes to results? Yes, he does! Not even Phil Ivey is close with having 94 total cashes and 28 top-six finishes, of which 11 are bracelets.

Euro 2024 Final vs WSOP Day 5

With a total of 464 players remaining, Day 5 of the World Series Of Poker is about to start. All of the remaining players are looking to continue their journey which might end up with a grand final table score. The minimum prize earnings at the final table is $1,000,000, and the top prize is a whopping $10,000,000!

Plenty of big names are still in the mix. Names such as Phil Ivey, Andrian Mateos, Jesse Lonis, Aleksejs Ponakovs, John Hennigan, Maria Ho, Tony Dunst, and Bin Weng are just a couple elite names who are considered serious competition for the rest of the field.

The finalists of the Euro 2024 are also known, with Spain entering the final as the people’s favorite. Be it a coincidence, but Spanish pro Adrian Mateos might be one of the fan favorites to reach far in this year’s Main Event of the World Series Of Poker.
