Top 15 Richest Poker Players in the World for 2025

- Fact Checked by: PokerListings
- Last updated on: March 21, 2025 · 10 minutes to read
No one knows for sure who the richest poker player is in 2025. The reason is simple: there is no publicly available data. We don’t know how much money is played daily in Bobby’s Room, other high-stakes rooms, or private games. Poker players don’t report their offline cash game results, and many of them don’t even know whether they are profitable in the long run. So, if you see claims that Dan Bilzerian has won $100 million playing poker, it may just be his own statement — one that no one can verify or disprove.
In compiling the ranking of the richest poker players of 2025, we relied on public sources. We used the All-Time Money List ranking for tournament players as of March 2025, gathered the biggest wins for each player in the top 15, and included interesting facts from their biographies.
Note: Net worth rankings consider only total poker tournament winnings and does not account for buy-ins or losses in non-cashing events. However, this is the only available method to roughly estimate which players belong in the top 10 richest poker players now and in the near future.

Currently, Bonomo has stepped back from poker somewhat. He now spends more of his free time practicing acroyoga and engaging in political debates on X (formerly Twitter). In 2024, he recorded only 9 ITM finishes, including a 7th-place finish in the $25K WSOP Paradise Main Event for $1,300,000.

With no other choice, he had to learn a new game. In 2003, Smith and other chess players got caught up in the Moneymaker poker boom — between chess matches, they would pull out a deck of cards and play poker. Back then, he watched the world’s best players and thought that one day, he should be in their place.
And that’s exactly what happened. Today, Dan Smith ranks 5th on the list of the richest poker players.

Over his career, Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu has accumulated $55M+ in tournament poker winnings. This number could be even higher, but he prefers to play tournaments in Las Vegas, often skipping high-roller Triton events around the world.

At just 19 years old, he won the €10K WSOPE Main Event 2013 bracelet ($1.35M), becoming the youngest WSOPE bracelet winner, a record that still stands. Just as importantly, Holz played a key role in uniting the German poker community by creating projects like PokerCode (founded by Fedor Holz, Matthias Eibinger, and Steffen Sontheimer) and Grindhouse, which helped develop well-known players such as Mario Mosboeck, Samuel Mullur, Roland Rokita, and others.
Top 3 largest ITM finishes for Fedor Holz:

- $3,500,000 — for 2nd place in the $300,000 Super High Roller Bowl 2016
Phil Ivey ($48+ Million)

The Man, the Myth, the Legend. Phil Ivey could very well top the list of the richest poker players — if only we knew how much he has won in high-stakes cash games. His tournament earnings might represent just a fraction of his total profits, considering he won nearly $20,000,000 in cash games on Full Tilt Poker alone.
He holds 11 WSOP bracelets (second only to Phil Hellmuth, who has 17). However, his biggest tournament cashes have come from Aussie Millions and Triton events.

A living poker legend who was there at the birth of tournament poker, Erik Seidel recorded his first ITM finish in 1988 — when a third of the players on this list weren’t even born yet. He holds 10 WSOP bracelets (trailing only Phil Hellmuth and Phil Ivey, and tied with Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan). Even more impressively, he won his 10th bracelet in the $50K WSOP Paradise Super High Roller 2023 and his ninth in the $10K Super MILLION$ on GGPoker — one of the toughest online tournaments packed with top regulars. At 65 years old, Seidel continues to travel the world, competing on equal footing with younger players in the highest-stakes and most challenging tournaments.
Top 3 largest ITM finishes for Erik Seidel:
- $2,472,555 — for winning the A$250,000 Super High Roller Aussie Millions 2011

David Peters ($46+ Million)

Like many other poker pros, David Peters started playing poker after the Moneymaker Boom in 2003. He initially played online under the nickname “dpeters17,” but he is now focused on live tournaments. A four-time WSOP bracelet winner, David Peters is known as one of the most humble, quiet, and focused players at the table.
Top 3 largest ITM finishes for David Peters:
- $2,699,752 — for 2nd place in the $200,000 WPT Triton Super High Roller Philippines, 2016

Steve O’Dwyer ($46+ Million)

Started playing poker in 2004, but the first couple of years brought little success. In 2007, he found backers, and a year later, he started playing high-stakes tournaments. After “The Black Friday”, his entire bankroll was stuck on Full Tilt Poker, forcing him to borrow money for food while his makeup reached $400K. With no money, he had to sleep on an air mattress at Scott Seiver’s place.
That was the early career of Steve O’Dwyer. Now, he is a regular in high-roller tournaments with over $46.4M in live earnings and at least another $7M online.
Top 3 largest ITM finishes for Steve O’Dwyer:
- $2,157,000 — for 3rd place in the $200,000 Triton Poker Montenegro 2024
- $1,872,580 — for winning the $100,000 PCA Super High Roller 2015

William Alex Foxen ($44+ Million)

Alex Foxen could have become a professional athlete or a successful financier. But at the age of 12, he saw a broadcast of the World Series of Poker where Chris Moneymaker won, and he fell in love with the game. Before discovering poker, Foxen played for Boston College’s American football team but had to end his career due to injuries and dedicated his life to poker instead. Foxen plays non-stop — over the past seven years, he has barely had a total of two months away from poker.
Top 3 largest ITM finishes for William Alex Foxen:
- $4,563,700 — for winning the $250,000 WSOP Super High Roller 2022

Who is the richest living poker player right now?
As we mentioned earlier, we cannot say for certain who the richest poker player in the world is at the moment. First, we need to define what we mean by “richest living poker player,” as this definition could also include businessmen who play poker (however we can’t consider him a professional poker player).
For example, we could call PokerStars co-founder Mark Scheinberg one of the richest poker player of all time, as his net worth was estimated at $5.6 billion in 2024. As a reminder, Mark and Isai Scheinberg sold PokerStars to Amaya Gaming in 2014 for $4.9 billion.
