On October 27, 2024, veteran poker streamer Jaime “PokerStaples” Staples shared exciting news on X (formerly Twitter): after 10 years of streaming, Twitch awarded him a special trophy for reaching the milestone of 5 million hours watched.
In this article, you’ll find more details about this achievement, along with interesting stats from other online poker streamers.
How Twitch & Fans Supported the 5M Milestone
In July 2024, Twitch introduced its new Streamer Achievement Program, designed to reward the platform’s most-watched streamers with unique trophies. The trophy awarded depends on the number of hours a channel has been watched.
The system launched on August 20th, and as of October 28th, it includes three milestone trophies:
- 5 Million Hours Watched — “Bleed Purple” heart in purple
- 50 Million Hours Watched — “Bleed Purple” heart in marble
- 250 Million Hours Watched — “Bleed Purple” heart in chrome
Once a channel reaches one of these milestones, Twitch initiates the process of sending the trophy to the streamer. Streamers can expect to receive it within 2 to 8 weeks after order confirmation.

Each statue is accompanied by warm words from the Twitch team. For example, these words were in the box with Jaime’s purple Bleeding Purple:
“Congratulations on 5 Million Hours Watched Bleed Purple represents passion, dedication, and community.
Today, we celebrate the passion and dedication you’ve put into reaching this moment as well as the passion and dedication (and occasional trolling) of the community you’ve built along the way.
5 Million hours watched is quite simply a ridiculously massive achievement. Thank you for showing all of us what it means to truly bleed purple.
Well played,
Your friends at Twitch”
Since Jaime is the first poker streamer to share this achievement publicly, it’s fitting to recognize him as the first online poker streamer to reach this kind of milestone.
Jaime kept his comment brief, simply stating: “10 Years in the books. Thanks all for being there ❤️ Going live.”
But his restraint was more than made up for by the enthusiastic responses from supporters, friends, and colleagues in the comments under his tweet. We’ve selected a few highlights to share.
Mark “MBen10” Bennett: Congrats Jaime! You were the first Twitch Poker streamer I ever watched. You are inspiring for a number of streamers. I now stream myself and probably wouldn’t have started if I hadn’t have found your streams from the beginning. Thank you 👏🏼
SJTRADES: old enough to remember when ur little bro was grinding 10c 180 mans on stars thanks to being ur assistant haaa
scot munro: Looking good over there. 10 years already , shit I’m old 🇨🇦✊🍺
How Significant the Hours Watched Are?
According to TwitchTracker that collects Twitch channels’ stats from November 17th, 2016, Jaime’s channel PokerStaples had the following stats by October 28th, 2024:
- Hours Watched — 6.10M
- Hours Streamed — 6,566
- Total Followers — 158K
If we divide hours watched by hours streamed, we’ll see that each hour of his streaming was watched more than 929 times on average.

For comparison, his younger brother Matt Staples’ channel had 6 million hours watched over 9,020 hours streamed, that gives 665 times on average.

I chose Matt for comparison in pictures since they have a close amount of hours watched. But I was fascinated by other online poker streamers’ stats as well, so here the table with stats of some of the most popular of them as of October 28th, 2024:
Channel | Hours Watched | Hours Streamed | Average Views Per Hour of Stream |
---|---|---|---|
Lex Veldhuis | 32M | 9,845 | 3,250 |
Spraggy | 13M | 8,928 | 1,456 |
KmartPoker | 7.36M | 6,551 | 1,123 |
ArlieShaban | 4.13M | 9,455 | 436 |
girafganger7 | 2.15M | 1,417 | 1,518 |
A Few Words to Jaime from the Author of This Article
I first began casually playing poker with my (then future) husband in 2012, but I didn’t start playing regularly on my own until 2015.
Jaime Staples was one of the two streamers I watched consistently from that time until the day this article was published.
His streaming style, community atmosphere, and personal vibe had a significant impact on my perception of poker. He was one of the reasons I came to appreciate, respect, and ultimately love this game as something far beyond a challenging form of lottery. Reading these words, you’ll notice I now write about poker more than I play it — and that’s because I find sharing my admiration for the game through writing is a better fit for me.
Jaime’s recent achievement of the 5-million hours watched milestone feels like a fitting moment for me to thank him for all these years of incredible poker content.
For streamers, the influence they have on their viewers can often be hard to recognize. However, I’ve always seen Jaime as someone who understands this impact and who strives to provide a safe space, support, and understanding to his community in every way he can.
Congratulations, Jaime — here’s to many more milestones ahead!
