How Much Money Can You Win Playing NLHE Cash Online

How Much Money Can You Win Playing NLHE Cash Online

Imagine deciding to quit your job and start making a living by playing poker. You’ve heard that poker players earn a lot of money. But how much exactly?

Together with StatName, we are launching a new series of articles where we will discuss how much you can earn playing online poker at cash tables.

Today, we will talk about earnings at NLHE cash tables. We analyzed the top 15 best limits from NL10 to NL40K for July 2024 and are ready to share the results.

But first, some important notes:

  • StatName considers net profit at cash tables. Rakeback and rewards from leaderboards and promotions are not included in the statistics.
  • StatName tracks results only at cash tables (fast-fold poker tables are not included).
  • StatName statistics may differ from your HUD statistics because some hands may be lost during import. However, the sample of hands in StatName remains representative and provides an accurate picture of the player.

NL10: Piscivore Showed How to Earn $500+ in a Month

Playing NL Texas Hold’em $0.05/0.10 won’t make you insanely rich. To show a decent profit, you’ll need to grind a lot.

Some numbers: top NL10 players played ≈ 24,000 hands. On average, 100 hands are played per hour at one table online — you can check this directly in the lobby.

Typically, top grinders play at least 4 tables simultaneously (about 400 hands per hour). That means they spend about 60 hours a month in front of their monitors — this is the time you must be willing to dedicate to playing to succeed (not counting time spent studying theory outside the tables).

NL25: The Limit Where You Can Earn $1,000 a Month

Two players from GGPoker managed to earn $1,100 each at $0.25/0.50 in July. They are Ivan “SpleenRiffa” and “N0tAB0t“. Both played 15K and 33K hands, respectively. You can also make it to the top through variance and game selection, as “JustBe88” and “tilttea” did: both played fewer than 10K hands with cosmic win rates of more than 33 bb/100.

By the way, you can track any number of players up to NL25 for free on the StatName website.

NL50: If You Want to Start Making Serious Money, Aim for This Limit

However, the secret to making it to the top is still the same: a massive volume of hands. Believe it: “KajaKallas_” earned $3.3K through long grinding. But even at this limit, there are those who managed to get into good games and make a decent profit. For example, “karakoK10” won $2.8K in just 3,000 hands.

Note that at NL50, half of the top players play on PokerStars, and half on GGPoker. Also, “Gorgaro0ot” from the iPoker network (you can play there via RedStar Poker) made it to the top.

NL100: Profit Increased 1.5 Times, Distance Shortened 4 Times

NL $0.50/1 is the watermark where “serious” money in online poker begins. It’s no wonder that new regulars aim for this limit: you need to play less, but the profit is significantly higher.

Topping the rankings is “Mega_Pint” with a distance of 13K hands and a win rate of 35.1 bb/100. He managed to win $4.4K in a month.

NL200: “iamcomunist” Confirms That Grinding Pays Off

At the top of NL $1/2, we unexpectedly meet the record holder for the number of hands played: “iamcomunist” with 93K hands played. If we imagine he played at 4 tables (total 400 hands per hour) and spent 232 hours playing! Or 7 hours a day without days off. If you’re ready to dedicate yourself to poker just as selflessly, it will pay off.

NL1K: The Limit Where Five-Figure Profits Begin

NL1K top players

If you want to earn $10K a month from poker, you need to reach NL1K. The best player at this limit, “ggpoker1948,” made $32K in net profit. Note that you don’t need to play huge volumes here. The holder of $20K profit, “Imaisen,” played just 3.3K hands.

NL5K – NL40K: Where Poker Stars Are Born

The best player of the month was Australian Alexander Trevallion, who managed to win $212K in July in just 3.5K hands. The most productive player was another Australian, David Hanlon, who played a single session of 119 hands at NL $200/400 and made a $65K profit.
