Coolbet Open
The heads-up was an interesting match to watch, it was either going to be Finland or Egypt who would take home the trophy and the first prize of € 60.000! It was eventually Finland who took the title!
Aziz lost half of his stack during the heads-up, and went eventually all-in for 3,100,000 with Ace-Four against the Tens of Hakala. The board finished eventually with [Qx][Tx][8x][9x][7x]. And hereby it all came to an end here at the Coolbet Open 2023!
Tomorrow we will recap not only the final day, but the whole week as well! A lot of interesting things have happened here throughout the week, which we are going to share with you all!

Ville Tapani Hakala | ![]() | 1st – € 60.000 | |
Maged Aziz | ![]() | 2nd – € 38.690 |
Ylva Thorsrud run in the Main Event came to an end on 3rd place for € 25.190. She pushed her last chips into the middle with K 4 , and ended up being against the 10 10 of Aziz. with a Queen-high board, and no fours either, she ended her good run in this Main Event.

Yehuda Yosef from Israel, mostly had been chip leader this tournament. But at the final table he saw himself in a difficult spot suddenly and had his tournament life at risk.
Yosef: A K
Hakala: 5 5
It would turn out to be a very sick board with J 2 5 , and the turn Q . The river would give a flush to Yosef, but it was Hakala who made the best hand as he got four-of-a-kind 5 .
We had to say goodbye to the last player from Israel. The nationality with the most unique players in this tournament, a stunning 120!

Yehuda Yosef | ![]() | 4th – € 18.440 |
After doubling up his stack, Rafael Ben decided it was time to attack the dominating Chip Leader. He opened the action himself, and Hakala put Rafael Ben at risk when he put him all-in. Rafael Ben instantly called, which was quite opportunistic when looking on his cards. He needed help:
Rafael Ben: A 4
Hakala: A K
The flop gave plenty of choppertunities 8 10 10 , but with the A on the turn, it became extremely difficult. When the 8 landed on the river, it was the end of the story for the passionate player from Israel.

Rafael Ben | ![]() | 5th – € 13.940 |

We are down to five players as one of the Fins in the game in the likes of Hokkanen, walked towards the pay out desk. It was waiting for the bust outs for a long time, but it seems the players have found the right gear for now!
Hakala opened the action as chip leader, and fellow Fin Hokkannen went all-in, which got called by Hakala.
Hokkanen needed to hold with 8’s, but Hakala made a street on the turn with Ace-Jack. End of story for one of the Fins.

JAAKKO MIKAEL HOKKANEN | ![]() | 6th – € 10.340 |
Florian Fuchs, one of the players who took care of quite some action here at Day 3, unfortunately went out in 7th place. Against the chip leader Hakala it came down to coinflip another coinflip for Fuchs, as he lost a super important flip not too long ago against Rafael Ben with Tens against Ace-Queen.
Hakala had opened up the action, and Fuchs put it in for 20 big blinds. Hakala thought for a bit and made the call.
Fuchs: A K
Hakala: 8 8
The board ran out: 2 9 7 J 3
Unfortunate for the player Fuchs, which finally rings a bell where I know him from. I spoke to him swiftly, and he mentioned he was part of The Grindhouse #1.

It is break time here in the Main Event, with 7 players left in the contest. During the break, we talked to Ylva Thorsrud and she stated that not much happened yet at all. Florian Fuchs, one of the leaders of the pack, then mentioned he was fairly tired after a long week of poker. 3 days in a row, 10 to 12 hours of poker, is taking its toll for some it seems. Let’s pray and see if the fireworks will go up in the air after the break.

Jasmine Schuster, from Vienna in Austria, put her last 680,000 chips into the middle, and got called by Yosef. We were up to the races with a 1,9M pot:
Schuster: A 6
Yosef: J J
Board: 8 3 A 2 2
Schuster nicely doubled up here, but shortly after, she still was going to be sent to the rail.

Yosef opened up the action, and got a 3-bet from Hakanan. Schuster however woke up with a great hand and decided to go for it with 1,6M in chips. Yosef laid it down, but Hakala called the all-in with Aces. Schuster needed help with her Ace-King, but wasn’t lucky enough to break the aces. Hakala chips up to 4,5M chips, and Schuster is the first one to leave the official final table in 8th place.
Jasmine Schuster | ![]() | 8th – € 5.090 |
As the average is still like 30 big blinds deep, the players are carefully looking for the right spots. Everyone wants to win of course, but the aggressive play factor isn’t that big just yet. Let’s hope the pots will be a bit more juicy soon enough!

Aziz opened up the action to 120,000 and Thorsrud made the call with A Q . Rafael Ben also decided to call from the big blind with 10 8 .
Flop: 8 3 Q
Ylva Thorsrud made a continuation bet, and Ben decided to hang in and called. Turn K made both people check. And the A on the river gave Thorsrud another bet, on which Ben found the fold.

Do you also want to enjoy a great poker series like the Coolbet Open? Try and do the same as Halvard!
Hakala, the big stack at the final table, just lost an all-in with pocket 4’s against the Ace-Ten from Aziz. A nice Ten on the flop took care of it all, and Aziz is completely back in the game.

At 18:00 CET it is time for yet another satellite tournament to The Festival Series here at the Coolbet Open. Martin ‘Franke’ von Zweigbergk is also here splashing every single pot you can image. He actually had made it to the second day of the Main Event, as the shortest stack of all with 19,000 chips. Within 5 minutes it was Game-Over.
There will be 2x packages guaranteed worth 1600 euros each, for the Festival Bratislava 26 Nov – Dec 3.

Schuster finally found a spot to put her chips into the middle with [Qx][Jx], Yosef checked his cards from the big blind and decided to make the call with [Ax][Qx]. Hereby, one of the two remaining females in the tournament, was at risk. With a [Jx] on the flop, she managed to take the lead, and good for her, she kept that lead until after the river. Sweet double up!

Fuchs put himself at risk when he called for his tournament life on the turn on a board [5x][Kx][Qx][Ax]. He was quite behind with [Ax][Jx] against the [Kx][Qx] of Rafael. When the river landed Fuchs improved his hand to a higher two-pair [5x], and managed to sit down a little bit more comfortable.
During the break prior to the Final Table, Fuchs did some small meditation session outside the casino. It seems that it worked out well in regard to help from above. With over $400,000 in live career earnings, he is looking to top it up even more here at the Coolbet Open. Florian came in the picture late on Day 2, when he absolutely crushed his opponents by very dominating plays. Here on Day 3, the final day, he continued to boost up his stack. It took a little hit on the final table, but he is in the top of the ranks again after the hand mentioned above. Let’s see what he can bring more.

By following a tournament from the very first minute until the very end, you are picking up quite some information about the players. Especially towards the final table, the actions are more frequent and we have a closer look on it.
- Yehuda Yosef: busted out on day 1a, in the last level of the day. And re-entered the tournament on day 1c. He had build up himself again a decent stack, and with his full table being bigger stacks as well, it would be likely to have the overall chip leader eventually from that table. That happened and Yosef became the overall chip leader with 860,000. On day 2, he never had been in any trouble and easily kept his stack safe through the entire day. On day 3, at first he stayed under the radar, but once being at the feature table he knew it was time to shine. You can see that he is not afraid that easily, showing the Ace-Jack call against the Fin Oskari. From there onwards, he took down pot after pot and is again the chip leader of the tournament. Most definately he will make sure there will be fireworks at the last table of this Main Event.

To reach the final nine players, we had to get rid of one more player. Eventually it would be Daniel Shaker, who would not make it from the three Austrians left in the game.
Yosef opens up the action with Ace-King, and gets a three-bet from the active player Florian Fuchs with Eight-Nine. Shaker then decides to give it a go, with Yosef of course making the call.
Yosef: [Ax][Kx]
Shaker: [Ax][Jx]
The board ran out Q 2 7 10 4 , and we lose Shaker in 10th place.

Young gun Jukka Oskari from Finland stands next to us in the rail. A couple minutes ago he busted out of the Coolbet Open Main Event in 11th place for € 3.590.
Oskari opens with K K to 100,000. Yosef finds A J in the big blind and raises it up to 350,000. Great news for Oskari and after some thinking he his remaining 1,400,000 all in the middle.
The board runs out 10 2 Q 9 A , and as unlucky as it gets, Oskari is out in 11th place.

Brandon Mifsud from Malta, with a great American accent, busts out in 12th place from the feature table. Again someone who had a very good second day at the Main Event, but bite the dust on the final day. He takes home € 3.590.
He defend with 7 6 his blind, against the open of Ylva Thorsrud with A A .
Flop : 8 J 3
It went all-in on the flop and Mifsud didn’t improve his hand to a flush and gave away a fair amount of his stack.
With his 8 remaining big blinds, he got it in right after with Deuces against the Ace-Nine of Aziz Maged.

As the feature table is being streamed, we will focus mainly on the outer table. There is an interesting line-up with three Austrian friends all next to each other, Florian Fuchs, Daniel Shaker, and Jasmine Schuster. Alongside them we have Yehuda Yosef and Rafael Rafi Ben from Israel, and the young Jukka Oskari from Finland.
Florian Fuchs is applying continuous pressure on the table and finds himself involved in many pots so far. While another active player, Daniel Shaker, cannot find any spots to join in on the action today. Yesterday, however he was in the same situation as Fuchs.
Jukka Oskari keeps himself quite, based on the poker action. One all-in he won with 9’s against the Ace-Ten from Fuchs, and celebrated very passionately.
Rafael Rafi Ben is also reasonably active involved in pots with the current chip leader Florian Fuchs, and takes down some pots here and there. Yehuda Yosef on the hand, chip leader from Day 1, keeps himself under the radar so far.

It’s not always the case that the best hand wins in poker. Keito Kaljulaid, from Estonia, busted out in 13th place when his Aace-Queen couldn’t hold against the Ace-Jack of Ylva Thorsrud. Keito also mentioned that another player at the table had folded a Jack, which makes it even more unfortunate.
- On Friday, Keito jumped into the €165 Turbo and managed to win it all for €3,850.

Keito Kaljulaid | ![]() | 13th – € 3.050 |
Unfortunately for Peter, it wasn’t his day today. As ultimate short stack, he managed to become 14th for € 3.050. In the last hand his pocket 4’s couldn’t hold against the King-Jack of Maged Aziz. A king on the turn would seal the deal for Aziz to chip up, and for Peter to hit the showers.

It’s not a good start for the Norwegian players left on Days 3. Roy Sorknes and Jonatan Wedde went out respectively in 15th and 16th place.
Sorknes had to find a miracle when he found himself al-in with [Ax][5x] versus the pocket sixes of Florian Fuchs. Sadly for him, no Ace appeared on the board and he busted out of Day 3 within 30 minutes.

We are live again from the Coolbet Open here at Bratislava. The last 16 players are all set to kick off and to try and reach the final table, where the big money is going to be shared. The top prize of 60,000 is in play, where many always have played for, to get finally this first prize and the trophy.

Jasmine Schuster, is one of the two female players who is in good shape at the final 16. With 1,690,000 in chips, she is currently in sixth place. Let’s get the cards in the air!
A little after, we will provide you the chip counts from the remaining players. Tomorrow at 12:00 CET, play will continue!

We have lost the last two players before the end was there for Day 2. Saevarsson could not win with his A 10 versus the Deuces from Oskari. Board ran out 4 8 J 7 8 .

Yesterday, during the last two opening flights of the Main Event, we had a surprise guest in the name of Martin Karbhel. The controversial Czech poker player came for the second event in a row here to Banco Casino to play the Main Event. A massive 196 entries were done on Day 1e, while Day 1f made it happen that the guarantee would be reached. We made a little recap about the whole day, including the seat draws and and chip counts for Day 2.

We have 24 players left, with some very interesting players still active with over averaged stacks. Ylva Thorsrud and Jasmine Schuster are keeping the female participation high here. And then Fuchs, Shaker, Jonatan Wedde, are being really focused to get a massive run here. Yehuda Yosef, chip leader after Day 1, still has a big amount of chips in front of him. While Andrej Desset and Martin Ilavsky need to keep the Slovakian pride on a high level.

They both have a little more as the 1 million chip mark. Manuel Blaschke however, was not impressed at all, and moved all-in for approximately 400,000.
When Fuchs went out of the way, Shaker made the call and we would go to the races:
Shaker: A K
Blaschke: 4 4
The flop was good news for Blaschke, and bad at the same time with 10 10 Q . The turn was still safe with a 7 , but the river sealed the deal for Shaker with the K .

Thorsrud: K K
Saevarsson: A 10
The board ran out with 4 four diamonds, of which the last diamond was an Ace. For a little moment there was a some confusion, but indeed, the Ace was not good enough for Saevarsson as Thorsrud made a flush.
Little bit after, Saevarsson gave away his last chips and busted out.

Yair Kimhi just came off from the Feature Table, until he moved to table #22. The same players where he was with at the Feature Table joined him. Already three times he won an all-in situation today, and every time we heard him saying ”Guys, this is my tournament. It’s my day today”. The fourth all-in however…
The Poker Gods didn’t like the force, so decided it was time to bust out in 40st place. GG!

Tonight is the last Streamers Hyper Turbo at 21:00 CET, and this time its the turn of ‘Sycksbe‘, to have his name linked to the tournament. Since day 1, Christian Arstad is absolutely grinding the Coolbet Open from A to Z. Currently, he is playing the PLO Hi/Lo, but after he will compete in his own Hyper Turbo Tournament.

Oskar Wedde, who sits at table #25, and just like his brother Jonathan still in the game in the Main Event, opened up the action to 25,000 from the Button. Martin Ilavsky from Slowakia called from the big blind.
Both saw a flop 3 9 4 . It was Ilavsky with the check/raise to 60,000, which got called by Wedde after some tanking. The turn gave flush possibilities with 10 , and this time it was Ilavksy who opened up the action with a bet of 85,000, which also got called by Wedde.
The river gave another ten with the 10 . Illavsky continued his raid and moved all-in on the river, which got insta-called by Wedde who showed Q 8 for a Flush. Ilavsky could only show J 9 and gave a massive part of his stack away.

After many double ups of the short stacks, we finally have reached the money. There were 3 all-in situations, so the chance was there we were going to get to the money.
- First all-in situation was at table #21, where the absolute short stack Yair Kimhi went all-in for 27,000. Two players decided to make the call, but the short stack had Kings and held up against the two. Triple up!
- At table #23 it was pocket Jacks at risk against King-Queen. On the turn it have King-Queen a straight draw, but with only two Jacks left in the deck, chances were slim. Double up for the Jacks.
- At table 62# we finally had the bubble burst when Aces were all-in versus Jacks. The board remained only low, and thus we had another victim, who would leave without any cash in this tournament.

And we have a bust out at table #28. The short stack was at risk with his King-Queen, against Ace-Four.

Still hand-for-hand here and we will take a couple of interesting situations:
- Philip Sander from Germany opened up the action to 32,000, and was put all-in by Levinger who was sitting in the CU. With just 40,000 behind for Sander, it was a very odd move from the German, which tanked for 5 minutes before folding his hand.
- At another table we had an all-in situation with a player at risk with [Ax][Jx] against [Kx][7x]. The board ran out [Ax][Kx[7x]. The turn gave a blank, but the river was a [Jx] and so the short stack doubles up
- Edgaras fell to the last 19,000 and went all-in preflop with [Jx][5x] against an opponent’s [Ax][Kx]. With a board of [Kx] [Jx] [Tx] [7x] [5x], he secured a double up, and the hand-for-hand play continues.

The hand-for-hand play is taking its time. Players are as per usual very patiently when they have to make a decision. We have had one all-in situation in the past five hands. Which we mentioned before in this blog.

Saevarsson was all-in and a risk at the hand-for-hand play. When the cards opened he showed K K . His opponent had A 4 . Saevarsson was on the spot, on the flop. So it was an easy call for him to make here on the bubble.
Board K J 4
The turn and river gave a blank, which gave Saavarsson now 360,000 in chips to play with.
We are getting close to the money now, so it’s time the short stacks start to double up.
- Heimar Lill managed to double up his 36,000 stack with 10 Q , against A K . The board ran out Q-High and he could hope a bit more for a deep run today.
- Another Estonian, Erik Polluveer, threw in his last 50,000 with Ace-Nine, and got called by chip leader Yehuda Yosef with Ace-Jack. Fortunately for Estonia, the board would show two nines, and two kings.
- Sigurd Aki Sigurdsson went allin with King-Jack, and got called by Ace-King. A jack on the flop would be enough to double up, leaving his opponent crumbled.
Ilian Norhian from Israel just stood up from his table as he busted out the main event in 86th place. He went all-in for his remaining 40,000 chips from early position with A K . He got called by the big blind, who plays around 450,000 in chips, with J 6 .
When the dealer opened up the flop, it was end of story for Norhian, as the board showed 9 3 2 . Turn and river did not matter anymore. After regretfully wishing everyone good luck at the table, he left the room.

We have two female players left in the game. One of them, Ylva ‘Jevakim’ Thorsrud, was tangling with the overall chip leader back on Day 1b. Today she is on the same table again, and expect some fine class of action on table #22. Both women, are looking to reach far in the Main Event today.

Throughout the week we met Icelander online qualifier Hjoertur Davidsson. Extremely friendly, and is having a blast here in Bratislava. He just told us that he was struggling today as he managed to make it quite late last night. Fortunately for him, he managed to already double up since he busted Oyststein Brenden with Aces.

Martin ‘Franke’ von Zweigbergk, founder of the The Festival Series, which is being organised later this year in Brastislava, was the absolute short stack at the beginning of Day 2 with 19,000 chips. It would eventually last two hands, when he got it in with [5x][6x], against [7x][7x]. Franke needed a lot of help and almost got there, but was dead on the turn. [9x][8x][Kx][8x]. The river did not matter anymore.

Ladies and Gentleman,
Good morning, straight from Banco Casino in Bratislava at the Coolbet Open. Today we will continue with the Main Event and we will play until 16 players remain, or 10 levels. The levels have been increased from 45 minutes to 60 minutes. Seatdraw is visible in the liveblog as well as on the website of Coolbet.
There are a total 110 players left, and presumably 75 players will be in the money. This has to be confirmed still by the casino. Short stacks will be trying to double up in the first level, so that they can make it to the money. There is still some way to go, as 35 players need to bust before the money starts rolling.
Chip leader is Yehuda Yosef from Israel (861,000), and absolute short stack is Martin ‘Franke’ von Zweigbergk, founder of The Festival Series (19,000).
We will be trying to take note of as much action as possible today with PokerListings.
Good Luck to all the players!

The board ran out 4 5 4 7 K .

45 Minutes left on the clock. Plenty of action still going on at the tables, where everyone tries to survive one more level before they can bag and tag their remaining chips. With late registration still open for Day 1f (turbo), the guarantee has been reached already!

We saw Dayan jumping up from his chair when he managed to spike a straight flush on the river for his tournament life.
Board: 6 7 10 9 2
Dayan had 8 8 and his opponent had A K . It was all good for his opponent, until the turn popped up.

During the last WSOP in Las Vegas, Martin Kabrhel became hot news in the poker world. The poker player from Czech Republic, was accused of potential cheating at an High Roller event. Today, he thought it was a great idea to come play the Coolbet Open Main Event.

Going in towards the end of level 11, there is still one more level of late registration. After that, we will play two more levels of 45 minutes each, until we reach the end of the starting flight Day 1e.
Most likely, the players who bust in the last level will nog re-enter in Day 1e, but will play the turbo flight 1f instead.

Downstairs in the cash game area, you can buy-in into a ‘one-hand Satellite’ for the last opening flight of the Main Event. The last turbo flight, started at 21:00 CET, will be the last chance for players to qualify themselves for the second day of the Main Event. 10 Players can buy-in for just €50, and the winner of the flip gets a Main Event ticket worth € 550. Then you think, where is the fee? With this ticket, you don’t pay any fee. It’s on the house!
Jonatan Wedde is mostly known for his Twitch Channel. Alongside his brother Oskar Wedde, who already managed to bag a stack in yesterday’s Day 1c. He will go as table captain on stream today, together with fellow countrymen Niklas Klein, and Mikkel Jensen.
In live tournaments Jonatan does not have any titles in his possession just yet, perhaps this will change during the Coolbet Open Main Event.
With their Twitch Stream, they are representing Coolbet.

We will have a new feature table after the break:

With 20 out of 21 entries still in the game, the Rebuy Tournament could have wished for a bigger turnout. With 4 levels 20-minute levels left on the clock, there is however plenty of time to register. Also for this tournament there is a guaranteed in place of € 4,750.

Level 8: 500/1000/1000
Average: 67,143
Players: 84/188
With four more levels of late registration after the current level, there is plenty of time to find your spot at the tables. Perhaps you might even end up at the feature table, which is being streamed lived on Twitch and Youtube. After the next level, we will go into the next break and then we will provide you with the chip counts.
We will play today until the end of level 14.

On the second floor, the 8-game is being played. With 38 players on the list, it is to be called very decent. The guatantee of € 4,750 already has been reached, and late registration is still open for another four levels of 25 minutes each.

We arrived at table #21 when there was around 12,000 in the pot. The flop was spread out on the table, 7 Q 3 , on which Reuven Elkeslasy bet out 6,000. It was Johan Rolfsson Hannen from Iceland who decided to make the call. Both of the players saw a 2 on the turn. Elkeslasy moved all of his remaining chips into the middle (18.800), and Johan Rolffson Hannen went into the tank.
Going into the tank for a duration of at least five minutes is quite a while. But not a single player decided to ask for the clock on him, which indicated that Rolffson Hannen must have had a hard choice which was understood. Eventually he folded and Elkeslasy took down a nice pot.
After the hand, talks were done by the two players. .Elkeslasy eventually mentioned he had pocket 7’s, and Rolfsson Hannen had Ace-Queen.

The recap of Day 4 here at the Coolbet Open is online! Yehuda Yosef is currently in the lead of the Main Event with 861,000 chips. Not a bad start!

When asking around to our Slovakian friends here at the Banco Casino, to see which player stands out from the local community, all answers were anonymous, Andrej Desset. When looking on his results so far, we can see results registered from 2012 onwards. With a total of 207 cashes, you can consider him as a poker player who tries to make a living out of it.
Currently, he is #4 on the Slovakian All-Time money list with over $1,000,000 in cashes. His biggest cash comes from 2017, where he won a main event in Czech Republic for $107,000.
Today he is trying to build himself a stack on Day 1e from the Coolbet Open Main Event. For sure an event which he would like to add to his impressive amount of cashes.

When looking at the Norwegian score today, the amount of entries isn’t that big compared to previous days. We expect the 8-game to be a total Norwegian party. Here are some of the Norwegian chip counts so far:

At this very moment, we have a total of 487 across all opening flights, with more than six levels of late registration left. The number of entries of yesterday’s Day 1c will be surpassed today most definitely.

Today we are going to have the last two opening flights of the Coolbet Open Main Event. Expectations are set high today, as the locals usually turn up to try and accumulate chips for Day 2. Currently, there are already 83 entries on the scoreboard for Day 1e. In the evening as per usual, another turbo flight will be played out.
Not only the Main Event is on the schedule today, many side events will take place. The 8-Game is extremely popular in Scandinavia, so we expect there a massive prize pool as well.

- We arrived at table #31 and saw that Oskar Wedde was tangling with the ultimate chip leader of the tournament so far, Yohuda Yosef. On a King high board, Wedde opened the action on the turn, which Yosef called. On the river Yosef bet out 25,000 in a pot of a size of around 40,000, which Wedde instantly called. Wedde showed [Kx][7x] for two pair eventually as the river gave the [7x]. Yosef showed top-pair with [Kx][2x].
In the morning, Coolbet had arranged an hospitality event, which turned out to be Wakeboarding. Oskar Wedde was also present, and was the first one to actually keep himself in balance on a Wakeboard.

All below players are in the top of the current chip counts. There are two more levels of 45 minutes left to play, until the registration will close. After that, there are another two more levels to be played. Remaining players will advance to Day 2 of the Coolbet Open here in Bratislava.

Yesterday we already saw Yehuda Yosef playing the Main Event Day 1a. Despite he had build himself a great stack, he did not manage to take it with him over the finish line. He busted out in 25th place, while 15 players advanced to Day 2.
Today at Day 1c, he managed to gather again 5+ starting stacks for himself, and can find himself back in the top of the chip counts:

Let’s pick out a player from the Main Event and try to find all the poker statistics of the player. We will highlight
Alexandru Budai from Romania.
Alexandru has got over $100,000 in live career earnings following TheHendonMob (world’s biggest poker search engine). His best live poker cash was $55,603 which he scored back in March from this year in Bratislava, not bad for a $300 buy-in. He topped a field of 1,088 players, so he experienced to win a sized Main Event before.
When looking further in his records, we can find that the buy-ins all remain in the same range. However, what people tend to forget is that these scores are ‘only scores’. It doesn’t mention how many attempts were needed for this. What we do find interesting is that he just started to have his cashes from 2021 onwards, implying that he only started playing from around that period. To have $100,000 in cashes behind your name within 3 playing years, is quite impressive nowadays still.
The location of the cashes only happened in the Eastern side of Europe, which is again quite logical when you live in Romania.
Currently, he unfortunately busted in the Main Event 1c, but we are quite positive he will return to fire another bullet in perhaps the turbo flight which starts at 21:00 CET.

Yesterday we had seen a few situations where the floormanager was asked for his judgement. Many cases on the poker tables can easily be avoided, just by reading the full rules of the game of poker. Welcome for another day in sunny Bratislava. Fresh and well back from (an attempt to) Wakeboarding with Coolbet, we are back in the casino for some great piece of poker action! There are many tournaments planned for today, of which logically the Main Event Day 1c and 1d are the ones which we are going to keep an eye on for the rest of the day. Already 105 entries so far for Day 1c, which will just enter now Level 3. Sensational!

When looking through the entry list, we can see also today that there are a horde of poker players from Israel trying to find a bag at the end of the day. Also the Swedes and Fins have gathered here in Bratislava, which makes the Scandinavian domination even more strong. Let’s stay put here, and enjoy the liveblog of today!

Day 1a has been a very international day, unfortunately for Chile there is no more player from their country in the game on Day 1a. Cabrera had to make a call for his tournament life and went deep in the tank, when his opponent put him all-in on the river with a board showing [9x][2x][5x][4x][9x]. After having made the call, he wanted to directly muck his hand and walk off, but the dealer explained he had to show his cards, [5x][6x] for him. Which were no good against the [Ax][3x] of his opponent, which made a wheel on the turn.

Not even that long ago, Grabics had over 200,000 chips in front of him. Since he switched to another table, we could see all his chips standing in front of his neighbour Jacob Melloul. The player of Israel has got around 16 starting stacks in front of him, which is almost 20% of all chips in play.

Good friend of her from Norway, Oskar Wedde, is having together with his brother Jonathan, their Hyper Turbo event happening at the moment. Ylva Thorsrud, streaming her online poker with her alias ‘Jevakim’, will have her eyes on reaching day 2 by playing two times average stack at the moment.

The registration has officially closed for Day 1a of the Main Event. Two more levels are left to play, so enough space to build even more mountains. The following players are in the lead of the tournament for now:

We saw a big pot brewing on table number 21, where Hungarian Tamas Grabics was involved in a 3-way pot. After the flop of Q 7 5 , it was chip leader Ohad Freund who chucked in a raise to 35,000 with around 50,000 in the main pot, and 20,000 in the side pot. Grabics went into the tank for a bit and decided to call. On the turn 4 , he then suddenly puts all his chips into the middle, which was approximately 80,000. Freund shaked his head, and folded almost instantly his hand.
When the cards opened up for the showdown, people acted surprised when they saw that Grabics ‘only’ opened up 6 6 . The short stack, Rudolf Kosa, tabled A A and was slightly ahead going into the river. But with the A being given by the dealer as a river, it was a Flush for Grabics and with that he took down the main- and the side pot.

With only 30 players left on Day 1a, and 1,5 blind level still to go for late registration, we will give you the chip counts in the following break. That break will happen after the end of the registration period.

The turbo flight of the Main Event, Day 1b, has kicked off with 13 players so far. They are playing 15-minute levels, and have the same starting stack as every other opening flight. 14 Levels will be played until the remaining players can bag up their chips, to be able to proceed to Day 2.

Level 11: 1000/2000/2000

There are two 45-minute levels left of the registration period. After that, we will continue for two more levels until the remaining players can bag and tag their chips. In general, the atmosphere is great at the remaining tables. People talking and laughing together, very important in such events with a reasonable buy-in and mostly recreational players who come for a small poker holiday here to Bratislava.
Fact: Colo-Colo is a professional football club from Chile, currently in 3rd place in the Chilean Primera Division. Players like Claudio Bravo and Arturo Vidal have played in the past for Colo-Colo.

The PL Omaha tournament had a guaranteed prize pool of just €5,000, and it got absolutely smashed as the total prize pool currently is €21,470! What a great result for the mixed games community. Ironically enough, 11 out of 28 players remaining have a Norwegian flag behind the name.

Yet another victim of the table talk of Karev Tralla. With his extreme loose play he will find himself in situations, where his opponents just cannot get away from their hands, when he is using big bet sizings. We arrived at the table when the flop was 2 Q K and there were about 5,000 chips in the pot.
Sturla Hiller leaded the flop with a bet of 3,500 on which Tralla went all-in for 60,000, but not before mentioning to the live reporter that it had to be written down. Once another player went out of the way, the table talk started. This time it came from Hiller as he wanted to know where he was standing. He eventually made the call and was actually in bad shape with his Aces.
Sturla Hiller: A A
Karev Tralla: 10 J
Tralla had a trillion outs and with a J on the turn, those outs became even more. Sadly for Hiller, another jack hit the river with the J , giving Tralla three-of-a-kind and the winning hand, and sending Hiller to the rail.

The Coolbet Open has many mixed games on the schedule. The first mixed game of this week is the PL Omaha 8-max with unlimited re-entries. Up to this moment, the popularity of Omaha is proving to be good here. Who will become the first mixed game event Champion of the Coolbet Open 2023?

Coolbet is tremendously big in the online poker market of Norway. With Norwegian influence in the company itself, that’s also not very surprising. Hordes of Norwegians came down to Bratislava to try and collect one of the amazing trophies here at the Coolbet Open. Yesterday we could see that during the PokerListings Deepstack event, the field was 25% Norwegian. One of the players from the country of the Fjords, is Leif Eddy Iversen.
Poker is a very competitive game, where sportsmanship plays a big role as well. Leif is one of those with such exemplary behaviour. Always kind to everyone around him, and always around friends at such poker events. It gives a good impression of this event, whereas Norwegians set the tone, on and off the tables.
In regards of poker results, Leif is doing well for himself with over $50,000 in live career earnings so far. Let’s hope for him, and for Norway, that he will reach far in this Main Event, so he can add another great cash to his name.

Yesterday you could read that many factors have influence on the gameplay in poker. Think for example about mind games. One of the greatest examples of table talk is the Englishman William Kassouf, who often headlines many poker news websites. But here at Coolbet Open we have our own poker philosopher in the name of Karev Tralla from Estonia. Although we might think that his talking wasn’t that much effective at the beginning of the day, as he is on his second bullet trying to find a bag on the end of the day.
He found himself already a great cash during the Coolbet Series, by finishing in second place in the Coolbet Open Warm-Up event for €1.915.
KAREV TRALLA | ![]() | 52.000 |

The PokerListings Deepstack event of yesterday, which attracted a total of 138 entries, was won by Deep Singh from Austria. He collected €6,315 for his outstanding performance. The recap shows you everything you need to know about the event.
Coolbet is spreading its wings all over the world. We could already see players of Latin America, where Coolbet is getting more active. In the Nordic and Baltic countries, Coolbet is already for years perhaps one of the leading real money poker sites out there. Check out here where Coolbet is standing in the ranks! Just be aware, the lists are depending on which poker sites are available in your own country of residence.

As it’s still very early in the event, there is not much to do yet with chip counts. But we did a round anyhow to see who is having a good start for themselves. A starting day of the Main Event is all about getting your start stack build up several times and to maintain it until Day 2. That’s where the marbles will be divided after all.

Yesterday, we learned that a group of players from Chile joined the action of the Coolbet Open. It was not a coincidence eventually, because they are representing the Latin-America part of Coolbet, coming mainly to join the Nations Cup Finals. An event series which you could qualify for online. The final nine players of the finals will have the chance to win a piece of the €20.000 prize pool, spread over the top-3 places. Today we are kicking off the Main Event with Day 1a. Already 47 entries so far, and 45 players are left in the competition. We expect a big attraction at 1a, as many players would like to play the mixed games side events in the coming days. Currently, the poker room on the ground floor is being used as first destination for the Main Event, and the official Main poker room upstairs, starts to be filled up literally now.
When looking through the player list, we can see a lot of players from Israel and Iceland. Will it be their day to shine?

Yes, we have a winner! Deep Singh from Austria took down the last heads-up match and concluded his victory in style. He would not only win the great first cash prize, but also the beautiful trophy here at the Coolbet Open!
Congratulations!
The PokerListings Deepstack event will be won by someone outside Slovakia. It will either go to Poland, or to Austria. Even stacks, even chances!
Deep Singh and Dominik Ostrowski both play around 3,5M!
Philipp Sander, who had been short for a while now, had put his last 7 big blinds into the middle from the Small Blind when everyone had folded towards him, the Big Blind however, woke up with pocket 8s.
Sander: 4 5
Ralbovsky 8 8
The flop gave the flamboyant Kivu no help with 3 K 10 , but with the 2 there was hope on the horizon, unfortunately his ship sank when the river was dealt by the dealer, 4 . We lose the German poker player in 9th place.
Soon later, we got quick busts from Rapf and Hakala who couldn’t improve their position at the table.

Christian Arstad from Norway had his chips in the middle, and his opponent in the hand was Oskar Hastad from Sweden, who had him covered by just 90,000 chips. Arstad, who run well yesterday already during the Coolbet Open Warm-Up, is looking for another big run during the PokerListings Deepstack event.

Hastad: K K

At every big live tournament during a live poker series, many table talks go about the total number of entrants expectations. Coolbet Open made use of this, by arranging a giveaway on their social media prior to the event. With 120 runners at the moment, and 3x 25-minute levels left for registration, we can safely say that this event will become more popular as the Coolbet Open Warm-Up event of yesterday (120). Oskar Wedde will bring up the number with one most likely by doing a re-entry, as he just busted out of the tournament.

You come in a spot early in the tournament and you opened up the action with A Q , knowing you are playing starting stack of 50,000 chips. With the blinds on 300/600/600, a loose player where you have lots of information of during previous events, raises it up to 10,200, where he plays 35,000 in total.
You decide to only call, and see a flop of 6 10 J . You check into the loose player, and he goes all-in for his remaining 24,800.
You go in the tank, and the loose player tries to get into your mind telling you that he wants you call.
What do you do?
A. Call, and pray to the poker gods
B. Give him the credit and fold

We are on the second day of the Coolbet Open here at the Banco Casino in Bratislava. Yesterday, we already had seen a great amount of entries during the Coolbet Open Warm-Up event with a total of 120. It was eventually Norwegian regular Ole Johnny Fagerslett Karlsen who took down the event and had the privilege of holding up the first trophy of the week. He bested Karev Tralla from Estonia heads-up , while he was quite far behind at the beginning of the final stage of the tournament. He managed however to get the job done fairly easily. Results are mentioned below in this post and in the results tab. Today, the PokerListings Deepstack is topping as a headline event, with two satellite events running on the side.
Schedule September 5th:
