Pedro “gusmaa” Gusma Highlights Early Brazilian Dominance in the 2022 PokerStars SCOOP

The $75 million guaranteed 2022 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) is off to a roaring start at PokerStars with 18 champions crowned during the first two days. This includes a dozen titles claimed on Monday, which included many two-day events that kicked off on Sunday.

Brazil’s Pedro “gusmaa” Gusma (lead image) not only won his second career SCOOP title after winning the two-day SCOOP 03-H: $1,050 NLHE [Sunday Warm-Up], $400K Gtd for $98,854 but also took runner-up in the SCOOP 04-H: $2,100 NLHE [Progressive KO, Sunday HR], $500K Gtd to win $74,872 including bounties. 2020 WCOOP Champion Andre “PTFisherman23” Marques added his first SCOOP title to his impressive poker resume by winning that event for $123,216 including bounties.

The country of Brazil is easily dominating the early portions of the SCOOP. In addition to Gusma, four others waving the Brazil flag at PokerStars were also crowned champions including Lindembergue “bergue12” Junior, Eike “Mr. Havener” Onodera, Cesar “cautiioN” Antenore, and “rickroger10”.

Meanwhile, “vvdmm” won the festival’s biggest prize after shipping the two-day SCOOP 04-M: $215 NLHE [Progressive KO, Sunday Million], $1M Gtd for $150,386 including bounties. became the second player waving a Montenegro flag. One might remember that last year, Dejan “dejanlc357” Kaladjurdjevic made SCOOP history by becoming the first player from Montenegro to win a SCOOP title. This was just the start as Kaladjurdjevic miraculously went on to win two more titles during the opening week.

In other big news, Sweden’s Robin “robinho” Ylitalo won his second SCOOP title after agreeing to a three-way deal in the SCOOP 02-H: $530 NLHE [SCOOP Kickoff], $300K Gtd to bank $52,159, while Argentina’s Alejandro “KKruchitAAs” Rodriguez found his way to the winner’s circle for his first SCOOP title in the SCOOP 06-H: $320 NLHE for the $59,540 top-prize.
