16th Anniversary Sunday Million – $10m Guaranteed on March 20th

The biggest and most famous online tournament celebrates its sixteenth anniversary on March 20th. The Sunday Million on PokerStars has been the biggest weekly online poker tournament for more than a decade and a half and for the anniversary the provider is equipping the tournament with a massive $10 million guarantee.

For several years now, the Sunday Million has normally been held with a $109 buy-in. But for the anniversary, PokerStars is returning to the old buy-in and charging $215 for the entry.

That means 50,000 entries are needed to reach the guarantee. In previous years, that number wasn’t a problem for PokerStars, but last summer the regular Sunday Million was already struggling to reach the $1,000,000 guarantee. It may well be that this Birthday Sunday Million will have a noticeable overlay.

Players are allowed up to 5 re-entries, with the last re-entry possible with the start of Day 2. Players would then start in level 19 with blinds of 1k / 2k and a starting stack of 20,000 chips. Satellites to the tournament are now running around the clock at PokerStars, with the provider also offering numerous freerolls and freebuy tournaments through which players can qualify for the Sunday Million for free.
